I had noted that my cable had the rubber sleeve and the two clips and had thought they were to protect it from wear on the bonnet.

This morning my outer cable was found to be fractured just forward of the sleeve. Properly broken, you could see where the fracture had occurred. On checking the parts catalogue, I saw the outer is meant to be in two parts, held together by the sleeve and clips. However, mine was not, it was continuous.!!??  Luckily I managed to slide the clips and rubber over the break (after thourorly lubricating the inner) odd this! but handy!

Speaking of chokes, my quadrant is adjusted well but the throttle does not open until over half choke,  is it worn?

Look what I found in the shed! From nearly 50 years ago!

SNAP.!! Now all I have to remember is where the hell I put it!???. (and the colour tune`s) I had two when I had the Vittesse 6 in the 80`s.

The cable on mine is in two parts. I just thought I needed a new one!!.

the rubber joint was to  decouple /reduce engine noise into the dash panel

bit of fuel hose and jub clip is a simple replacement if needed

as most are not a sleeved outer the rain into the heater intake  plenum  makes for hidden inner cable rust /stiff/ fractures  etc

always worth pulling the inner and greasing it .

Yea Pete, I read about that 'vibration to dashboard' malarkey but a PO has put a continuous outer on and also kept the rubber and clips!!

That was handy for me to affect a repair. I was not sure whether to greas or oil..... I oiled :)
