Any idea what this is??!?!

Just looking through the photos i took from when i was stripping down before restoration, just noticed this which from what i can remember doesnt do anything. Anybody got any ideas what it might be?

its the reset for the trip oddometer in the speedo     might need a push and twist

The plastic nob has a thread part for a nut to bolt it through a hole in the right hand parcel shelf front cross member.

Off the top of my head, I'm sure there's a n instruction somewhere in the handbook (?) that it must only be rotated in one direction to avoid damage to the speedo...

Oh dear. Because all of mine regularly get rotated both ways while I try to remember which direction is the one that does anything.

Hello, I've just checked the handbook and it says to turn the knob clockwise to zero the mileometer, I'm sure I've seen a label or whatever though that says only to turn it that way, my apologies if I've got it wrong!

One direction engages the teeth to turn the dials, the other doesn't. It doesn't do any harm unless you rotate it so hard that you wear the ratchet mechanism away... unlikely!
