Mathew
Took the spitfire and 2500s for a run to get fresh petrol. 20 pound in each. 2500s has had 99 octane the spitfire 95. Nice to have the top down, fresh air even if it is a bit chilly. Sunny now promises rain tomorrow.
Pete Lewis
why 95 in the spitty ??? they were engineered to run on 100/105 to get the best stick to 99 in both in the good old days 95 2** went in side valves and motor mowers and you want a va va room spitfire sorry need to up the game to 99+ Pete
Mathew
The spitfire has a 1.7 vvt ford puma engine, so didn't think it needed it. With the injection engine and ecu it could probably run on two star! Your right though 99 would make it run more efficient but the cost, 1.29 for 95 and 1.43 for 99. Wanted a bit more in the tank. Badwolf
My word. Is that the current price of petrol? Last time I filled up the Spit it was 95p litre with a Tesco token. What has the lockdown done to me, I am living in some strange parallel world!!

Living in norfolk has benefits and drawbacks, with lockdown we are not supposed to excess travel. Local garage on the a10 = high price, mind you Wisbech is just as expensive. In Kings Lynn however its about 10p per litre cheaper, an extra 10 miles up the road. Not an interesting drive and alot of traffic when you get near.

About the price I paid during first lockdown, been using Vitesse when I can, weather the deciding factor, paid quite abit more at Tesco last week but not doing many miles. Regards Paul. Anglefire
My last tank of DERV this week (17th) was £1.28 a litre used half of it already (434miles!). Spitfire I last put fuel in in August last year - that was the same price for the good stuff. BP probably because I think Sainsbury was shut. Tesco was £1.28 local, but there's a small roadside garage two miles from me selling diesel at £1.17. I'd try him if I knew where he got it from. Mathew
Taken for a good shake down run today after the suspension mods, exhaust mod and radiator change. Ran well, good acceleration and brakes. A few little niggles, over some bumps and hard braking got some chirps from the front right tyre. Could be too low suspension or i did notice a bump towards the tyre on the wheel arch. No grounding of the exhaust though so thats a result. The temperature sender earth not so good so i might have to solder it to the base of the sender, on one of the flats. Some of the lights on the dash not working in the multi function indicator, the choke(ecu) and ign one. Otherwise fine.
68vitesse
First autojumble and car show today, at Thurton, since Duxford last year and got this and all lenses are good. Lovely sunny day here so took the long way home. Regards Paul.
Colin Lindsay
Lucky man! I've been dreaming of autojumbles since forever... Was out all day until just now; dozens of classics on the road particularly classic rally cars - there's an event on somewhere that I don't know of! Not one Triumph but a very nice Opel, quite a few classic Minis including one on a transporter, three American muscle cars and more Escort MK1s and 2s than I've seen in years. I knew I should have taken the Gt6 out!
