Jeffds1360 Posted April 22, 2021 Report Posted April 22, 2021 Wife said she could not open the door on entry.... what a fairy I thought! I lent over and opened from inside. Later, when I tried... same problem found the push button had rotated so the slot was not at the bottom and the 'bell end' is outside the handle?? I gently rotated the push button clockwise and it seemed to screw in?? Not sure.... Is this a normal wear and tear problem? How do you fix it Thanks as usual ATB everyone xx
Chris A Posted April 22, 2021 Report Posted April 22, 2021 I had what looks to be the same problem on the passenger side of mine last year. I removed the door handle and window winder, take care with the little fixing pins! Remove the door card and you can get at the button mechanism, mine just needed the nut tightening to get everything back in order. Make sure the button is in the correct position before tightening.
Pete Lewis Posted April 22, 2021 Report Posted April 22, 2021 the button just has a washer to keep it in held by a "tappet" screw which prods the inside lever there must be a 2mm gap between end of tappet bolt head and the lever a nut locks the bolt length and holds the washer sounds like yours has all unscrewed afraid yes its door hard off and a bit of hand fiddling may need sticky plasters Pete
Jeffds1360 Posted April 22, 2021 Author Report Posted April 22, 2021 Okay dokey lads, guessed as much. Loose nut. , great. I'll see if I can ease the panel and squeeze my hand up to assess the situation. I've managed that on other cars and as you say Pete, elastoplast at the ready. Thanks.
Chris A Posted April 22, 2021 Report Posted April 22, 2021 I didn't need the sticky plasters. But the swear box got a few donations!
