Hi, any suggestions please for the alternative to Champion N-9Y.  An internet site lists the NGK alternative as BP6ES. I have just looked at my car and it has NGK 5E fitted?

I've always run NGK BP6ES in my GT6. Not tried the multi-electrode plugs yet. I did try Champion N9Y, but found the car didn't enjoy running on choke with them.

The 5 is a hotter running plug so do they look a bit cooked (white) or do you get run on/pinking? If so the 6 will help but might foul up more easily and also reduce igniting effectiveness...

w78 bosch  is getting some good reviews   NGK have changed their ceramic protection, its been getting problems on carburettor cars recently

there a good few post on here about plugs . fouling /misires etc    the search  box   ( up top )will find lots of comments

suggest you do not get any make with a R  resistive suffix that will reduce your HT spark

BP6ES is the std  ngk replacement for a vitesse

I'm a big fan of multi electrode plugs in our engines, but unlike Pete I've never found any problem with resistive versions. Bosch WR78 or NGK BUR6ET are widely available and from my experience work well,  better than standard plugs. There's more info in earlier threads on this forum.
