Jeffds1360 Posted May 17, 2021 Report Posted May 17, 2021 Even mentions the Herald in the write up! May be interesting, do not think it is a repeat? 1 2
DVD3500 Posted May 17, 2021 Report Posted May 17, 2021 I get Freesat here so I will definitely look into it!
GFL Posted May 17, 2021 Report Posted May 17, 2021 Looking forward to this programme, hopefully some footage of the Standard Triumph and Rootes factories as well as Jaguar?
AndyTV8 Posted May 17, 2021 Report Posted May 17, 2021 Yep, mine has been set since last week ........ Andy
Jeffds1360 Posted May 17, 2021 Author Report Posted May 17, 2021 I'll just film it on super8 and do my own commentary. Maybe dig out my Elizabethan reel to reel and synchronise with a clapboard 1

AndyTV8 Posted May 17, 2021 Report Posted May 17, 2021 This link should work shortly after the program airs if you prefer to watch online https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000w6sp?fbclid=IwAR2_I5RpTyZDlVn6lV81Ekt8VKqqul_0dj_uibPd8N6GcAt2DCoIC-EblxU ..... Andy
Nigel Clark Posted May 18, 2021 Report Posted May 18, 2021 A good programme, with insight into the leaders of the Coventry motor industry from their family descendants. Anyone notice Chris Allen (former TSSC Birmingham Area Organiser), in the Herald with presenter Mark Evans at MIRA? Nigel 1
Steve P Posted May 18, 2021 Report Posted May 18, 2021 Good programme, noticed Chris Allen as well.Wasn`t aware Sir John Black was a veteran of Gallipoli and Ypres either. Steve 1
DVD3500 Posted May 18, 2021 Report Posted May 18, 2021 I scanned for Triumph content... I think there was some new footage I have never seen before... Very little Spitfire/GT6/TR stuff .... I will watch it in its entirety later...
Mathew Posted May 18, 2021 Report Posted May 18, 2021 Thanks for the link, watched tonight, some new bits and an interesting programme. Just thought it was a bit rushed towards the end. Could have been a two part programme, I'm sure they cut alot that could have gone in.

Adrian Posted May 19, 2021 Report Posted May 19, 2021 Certainly makes you wonder what could have been if it wasn’t for the cumbersome inefficient cost cutting impersonal BMC machine combined with powerful union action and poor government combining in a perfect storm to decimate the industry reputation. A lot to be said about keeping it smaller and more manageable. Really interesting!
GFL Posted May 19, 2021 Report Posted May 19, 2021 I found the programme fascinating, ended up watching it twice😁 Lots of archive footage I've never seen before too. A good mixture of footage on a lot of the Coventry Manufacturers, Chris Allen's excellent 12/50 Herald featured and some good Rally footage of the Hillman Imp too. All in all a great programme Gary
