1250 head on a 1200 engine??

Hi,

Just  out of curiousity, can you fit a 1250 head on a 1200 engine?

I ask, as I saw one on eBay recently with twin SU's fitted, including the linkage, for £250 and was tempted.......

Yes, in fact I believe they are the same.  Late ('hot cam') 1200 engines were the same as the 12/50 apart from the exhaust manifold.

or an early spitfire head, basically the same but the valves have collets rather than the figure of 8 arrangement on the Herald

Basically the same head; manifold and cam were uprated for the faster engine so you'd really need to source the entire kit or alternatives.
