martyn wright
Hi! I have a late 1966 1600/6 with 150CD Carbs with a Rod System and my brother has a 1970 2ltr Mk2 with 150 CD Carbs! Is there a difference? or is it because the layout is different as he has a Cable setup?
Pete Lewis
the basic CD carbs are the same with cable controls being introduced later rough clues about the evolution .......... CD has what i call the thames barrier choke where a ramp rises to block the throat and raise the air piston for enrichment + jet adj from underside CDS has a enrichment valve on the front carb with a tube connecting the valve to the rear carb. jet adj from underside CDSE has twiddle proofed adjustment using a long hex key down the dashpot can also have temperature compensators on the side to weak idle when hot CDSEV has more emission controls added Pete

Pete Lewis
i fitted CDS on my 1600 with a small linkage mod to operate from the rod set up connected to the rear carb spindle in fact i had two choke starters one on each , worked fine and fitted rams inside the air filters with a bit of careful cut and chop Pete
martyn wright
Hi Pete! Looking at your 2 x Pipes coming from the Air Box, do they fit into a bracket on the Radiator? My brother has a bracket, but I am unable to find a code on any of the books that I have?? Cheers martyn
dougbgt6
Martyn, My GT6 had a bracket on the chassis, just two twisted wire hoops and a fixing loop. Original, but looked like it it had been made from a wire coat hanger. The pipes now fit into two holes in the radiator cowl. Doug
Pete Lewis
later modified to remove any spiral wound stuff to use cheap plastic waste pipe slightly bigger diameter and less turbulence and dont need any support flared the ends with hot air gun over a socket just used plastic pipe weld glue for the joints Pete
