Rubber boot brake master cylinder

Recommended Posts

After what I think was a brake master cyl leak after long period of storage I'm rebuilding both the clutch and brake master cylinders and repainting the localised area.

The rubber boots are the type that cover the linkage completely. My question is one end of the boot fits into the horizontal slot in the steel shelf.  The other has a groove which makes it look like it should fit through the metal frame the cylinder is bolted too. I didn't assemble it this way and cant get it to fit this way now.

Is this the correct or incorrect method of assembly?

Thank you
