Pete Lewis
i makes you wonder why spend £97k on a resto then sell it for the auction estimate bit like burning £50 notes in a hurry pete
NonMember
And even with a "no expense spared" restoration they couldn't find the correct hose for the PCV valve... It's a very beautifully presented museum piece that you'd never dare to drive.

But.. 97k??? The receipts must have included all of the petrol ever used, plus the gallons of Son of a Gun that have made the whole interior so shiny... thescrapman
Can't understand why you would store it all those years, pour vast amoun ts int it over 13 years, the. Sell it for 1/4 what you paid for the resto. I did note it was done by an Aston specialists, so probably only got about 97 hours for his layout. and no overdrive! Possible, but only if you are trying to lose "mattress cash"? The scheme is you pay the restorer in small amounts over a long period of time, the amounts are small enough not to attract attention and do not pass through the "books". Similar to how ,many small "operators" get around VAT. Usually only come to light when someone "blows the whistle" eg; the EX wife!. In this case probably not as it is far too documented. Must include the gold flakes in the brake fluid or the diamond-tipped screwdrivers. Locally it's £18 - £20. I like the quote in that link: "our accountant tells me we should be charging more but we're afraid of losing custom"... He's right there.
