Shrieking water pump.

This is not a question, but a solution.

I've been putting up with a shriek from the water pump on my Herald pick up (and in it's previous life as an estate) for some time. Always on application of a fairly heavy right foot.

Enough was enough, ordered the correct 1500 Spit pump from Paddocks and fitted yesterday.

 Bliss! no more shriek.

Apologies for an innocuous post.

Not for long, but tells you what needs replacing.

Believe theyre all made in India these days so who knows what bearings they use but they do usually last longer than the seal! Think these go quite often because they stick after being left stationary for long periods and then get damaged on first start up. Ive had some that reseal and others that dont however there is a company recommended by some on here that install an uprated seal in your old pump plus new bearings and then guarantee it for life - seriously thinking of using them next time round....
