Chris Longhurst
Link to MARonline article on the Dinky Toys Triumph Herald - this first part covers the 'standard' shop issues. I'll cover the relationship with Standard-Triumph & the promotional Dinky Heralds in later articles. https://www.maronline.org.uk/dinky-toys-189-triumph-herald-saloon-part-1-standard-issues/ Chris 78/00350
Wagger
Shame that they did not have the hinged bonnet, as in the Corgi models. Meccano Ltd where a bit slow in responding to more detailed models. Their early two rail trains were excellent, but introduced too late.
Mike Costigan
Windows and suspension were big selling points at the time. Corgi, of course, had had windows from the mid-1950s, but the Herald was one of the first Dinkies to have them. I remember being fascinated by the suspension and experimenting to see how much could be added under one wheel before one of the other wheels lifted off the ground - great play-value! Wagger
I had the Corgi Bentley Continental with 'Proper' steering and coil springs on the front. Suitcases and removable spare wheel in the boot. Their Mk X Jag was superior to Dinky's. Dinky's Standard Atlas bus was good and their RR Phantom Five.
