  1. Ian,

I recently bought a battery from Tanya batteries with a 5 year guarantee. They were cheaper than Euro Car  Parts and Costco. Tracked delivery was only £7.98 including the dreaded. Considering some of our illustrious suppliers can charge nearly a fiver to post a washer I thought that was a fair charge.

You do have to satisfy yourself you've ordered the correct battery. I did notice in the "what other customers have previously fitted" section that somebody has put an 015 into their Triumph Spitfire 1500 Diesel. It may exist.

  2. Dave,

One end of the pin has a taper, although I don't know if the taper then continues slightly or the rest of the pin is straight.

I've always put them in taper first and removed them by pressing on the taper so I never really found out if they go in either way.

Although you have probably tried from both ends this might be an idea.

One thing I can recommend is not to change them on a gravel driveway, but I still don't learn.

    Regards, Mick

  3. Doug,

    Thanks for the email.

Looks like it didn't give up without a struggle but at least it now knows who's boss.

I was going to say it should be all downhill from here, but that suggests things will get worse.

Then I thought it must be uphill, but that means it will be even harder.

Let's just say I hope it's going to be easier from now on.

     Regards, Mick

  4. Doug,

The crows foot spanners are  0.375 inch deep.

Might it might work with a 1/2 and full nut?

    What size is the nut?

I've got all manner of spanners, some long, some short and might file one down provided it's not one of my favourite ones.

I used to be a TSSC member and now don't have a Triumph so I've joined the Forum only. When I had my Triumph I occasionally visited the Thames meetings but that would be about 3 years ago.

If you want me to lend a hand then I'll call the club and pass on my telephone number if they haven't got it already, then you can call them and get it.

    Regards, Mick
