  12. At least I found the fault this time, it was driving me nuts!!! Thanks for all your help Pete.

  15. Hi Folks, Sorry for the delayed response but i’ve been working on the car nearly all day. OK, update on wire gate!!!! I started from the switch where I had power, in and out. From here the the loom travels to the passenger side into another block of bullet connections. Power was getting here ok but i gave the connection a clean up anyway. The power was coming out so I followed the leads down the A post into the front of the foot well. Here the leads enter another bock of bullet connections, the power was going in but not coming out. At last I had found a fault, there was some signs of water corrosion around the bullet connections. This is hardly surprising as the block is right in the corner of the passenger foot well. I replaced the connection with fresh set and the power was flowing from this block once more. I followed the lead just to make sure that all was well, in the end I had taken half the cars interior apart to check the leads. From here I went to the boot to check the power was there, happy days I now had power back to the rear lights and number plate light. One thing I did notice, when I reconnected the rest of the leads (I took them all out when I removed the wiring for the tow bar) On the drivers side there is another block of three bullet connections. One with a live feed (red) and the other two green on the in side of the connector. On the other side of the connector the red wire is connected with a green and the red joins to another green? This maybe something that the previous owner did but it did throw me for a while. With all the lights working again I rewired the tow bar connections and all is well. Many thanks to all the advice and diagrams that you all sent me, I really appreciate all of your help. Martin
  16. Thanks Colin,,,, Just going out to the car now. I will follow the link from the light switch (in and out is live) to where ever the break occurs. It has to be a bad connection or break somewhere. I’ll let you all know how it goes.
  17. Thanks so much (again) for all your help guys. When I get out there today I will go through everything you’ve said Pete. Hopefully I will find the lose/bad connection that is stopping the power getting to the rear.
  18. Thanks for your replies guys, really appreciate your help. A dodgy earth is my thinking but I can’t suss our where the dodgy earth would be? Iv cleaned all the earth points I see but this has had no effect. The three red wire bullet connectors in the boot all seem to be ok. I’ve taken all three out and cleaned them up but still no joy. any thoughts in where the dodgy earth would be? Thanks again
  19. Hi Folks,, Im in need of some help folks as I’m completely lost as i’ve tried everything I can think of. I wired in a tow bar socket onto my 13/60 Convertible. When it came to testing it i found that I had no rear lights. Indicators and brake lights working but no rear lights, The front lights were fine. As a result i removed the wiring for the tow bar and re connected the wires. Even after doing this i still haven’t got rear lights. I’m useless at looking at wiring diagrams so that didn’t get me anywhere. i’ve tested the power going into and out of the light switch and that all seems fine. When i test power from the the loom from the boot (Two red wires) there is NO power. I ran a wire from the switch directly to the rear light on both sides and that illuminated the bulb.I just can’t get any life running through the loom. Am i missing something simple? Very great fun for any advice, many thanks. Martin
