Hi, new member here - so hello all. Apologies for diving straight in with an engine question, but I'm up to my armpits in Spitfire internals and tight on time before I go back to work so a swift answer would be appreciated.
I am replacing the engine on my 1500 Spit due to a conrod making a break for freedom. The new engine seems fundamentally good, but it has 0.15mm end float. My old haynes doesn't list much in the way of specifications for the 1500 motor, and I can't find the end float specifications anywhere.
Am I in tolerance with the 0.15mm? If so, how close to tolerance am I? If I'm almost at the end of tolerance, then I may as well have them out now whilst the engine is on the bench.
All thoughts and comments gratefully received.
