  1. Hmm, I think you maybe right there! Seems the Standard bushes have a metal outer sleeve; whilst the polybushes don't! That might explain why they were so Fing hard to get in in the first place! Will try one tonight and see how I get on. Thanks for the advice. Adrian You were right; thanks. Had to cut them; then use a chisel to get them out! Not doing that again in a hurry!
  2. I'm fitting new blue poly bushes to my spitfire; and just fitted the ones to the leaf springs. Having first fitted the poly bush; then inserted the steel tube; the polybush is now extended somewhat from the spring. I presume somebody has done this before; so any suggestions as to what to do/what I did wrong? Much appreciated Adrian
  3. Having been a member for almost a year now; I thought it was about time I logged on and said hello. So; Hello! I've had my Spitfire for coming up 3 years now; and thoroughly enjoy booting round the lanes with it. It was fairly tidy when I bought it so I haven't had to do too much work; mostly keeping up with regular maintenance and cosmetic work. On the list for the winter is some new shocks and whilst I'm at it new bushes and get the suspension components powder coated. Should keep me quiet for a bit! Also the front bumper uprights need re-chroming to get them back to their fully glory. Hope to see some of you at some stage. I've attached some pics of the spitfire so you can recognise her out and about. Cheers Adrian

    983UYA

Hello, First post despite being a member for a year now, and owning my Spitfire for over two. I was wondering if anybody can help piece some history together for me? When I bought the Spitfire (983UYA), the chap I bought it from had bought it from whomever had restored it; from I believe his widow. I was lead to believe that the chap who restored it did some local exhibits with the car. The restoration is clearly very good and I'd love to add some detail to the extent of what was done. As far as I'm aware the car has spent its entire life in Somerset and now Wiltshire with a very short stint in London way back when; so I suspect any events would be in and around the Somerset / Devon / Dorset area. Any info much appreciated Adrian
