Will a mk1v hood fit a spitfire 1500?

Thank you for all the input.
Front shocks - How can i check the front shocker / spring mount distance . Does the club shop stock the correct scocks
Sorry to ask again but is there a simple measure from top of wheel to arch? Are the 1500 prone to weakening springs.
Thank you all

Hi another question . Do spitfire 1500 rear springs weaken and cause the rear end to sit down. What is the normal gap between top of wheel to front and rear wheel arches?
Is it easy to centre the rear spring on the diff?
THANKS

Thank you. I thought it strange that the headlight was retained by the cowl . The bonnet is a new 20 years ago.. Tell me where do the springs near the adjust fit and are bowl mounts using self tappers ?

Hello again. A large gap has developed on the top of the headlight cowls. I have tried everthing to close the gep but no joy. Three questions
1/ is the correct a rubber seal a special thin one to fit under the cowl,
2/ should the headlight bowl be screwed to the bonnets to stop the headlight bowl flying out when you undo the fixing screws of the cowl.
3/ any tips ?
Thanks

Hi. I looked at leatherhead. It seems a fit on the 1979 although i know the car was built in 1978. I will stretch the spring or heat it to soften the tension. Right now its too tight and needs a reaĺy hard puch to get it started. I like a light throttle so mighttry with it off for a while.

I'm pretty sure all of my Triumphs have had a second spring. Certainly both Vitesses did (one an early rod-and-arm linkage, the other a cable) and the pedal is ridiculously light without it. I think the Dolomite 1500 had two return springs on the intermediate linkage between the cable and the throttle shaft, as well as the one on each carb.
In part, I think it was done as a safety measure. Springs can break or fall off. If you only have one throttle return spring, and it breaks, then your throttle sticks open. If you have a second return spring then losing one of them only makes the pedal very light.

Does anyone know why there are two springs on the 1979 spitfire 1500, each carb has a spring but there is also strong spring from the link to a bracket on the suspension turret. Is this a form of "pressure back" to inctrease economy. Its so stiff the strottle has a pressure point to overcome at the start of throttle travel. I think the spring is too strong.?

Thanks every one! Gaydon and Newton Commerial said std fit was black carpets. I thought i recalled black.

I am not near the car but will differentiate between interior trim and floor carpet?.

I have recently bought the spitfire 1500 i bought new in 1979 from wadham stringer in fareham hants!. I have a question i wonder if anyone can answer? it was russet brown ad the biscuit hounds tooth interior but i seem to remember the that the carpets might have been black with maybe the shelf behind the seats being biscuit. Does anyone know what triumph fitted a the factory. The car is currently red and looks good so i doubt i will change it back to russet brown. THANK YOU

Hi. Looking at the restoration photos i dont think the sills were off . I will try removing the seal and maybe beating the seam back a bit never thought of a too thicker seal. Anyone know where you can get thinner ones. I missed bristol. Thanks everyone
