got to share my birthday (70'th) cake. My Herald going down Stelvio. or it could be showing a serious oil leak....
My daughter, Libby, did the 10CR with me in the Herald, GT6 and TR6, made the excellent cake. I had a great birthday!

you must a rachet tool if you want a good crimp joint, its needs the correct pressure to maker the cold weld in the joint. The rachet action makes you put the correct force every time you use it.
Good rachet tools have an asymmetric jaws so that they put less pressure on the insulated part of the crimp.mike

looks like the screen is tilted too far back, that would move the hardtop back. I wonder if the front bulkhead has been off and not refitted correctly?
not sure what adjustment there is on the body mounting to move it, but that will effect the door fit etc, etc...mike

there is a Mayflower owner in the Cambridge group. Its almost back on the road!

depends if its designed to be left connected to the battery. If so it will regulate its output depending on the battery state, and should not do anything bad to the battery.

Here's hoping cars never get to that state. "We updated your software to 3.2.1.... this addresses the "Directions for avoidance system if one-eyed high-heeled wearing drunk walks out in front of you and swears in Kazak" problem that was highlighted in the last update."
our 2020 Golf GTE all ready does this, "dont use me while I download an update", but the software has been so buggy its needed all the updates it can get!

I have often wondered why Triumph made it out of ali?
Cost? cant think of any engineering reason not to make it out of steel.

check the earth connection in the distributor, the small wire that goes to the plate that holds the points electronic ignition. If you dont have that wire the plate is earthed thru the rotating parts of the plate and this can start to fail when it gets hot.
Had a GT6 that had this problem....mike

I changed the tyres on my Herald after 6 years (rainmaster tyres) they were hard and started to crack.
The difference in grip with the new tyre was amazing, did the 10CR last years so wanted good tyres on the car.mike

Hi All! The Retainer Screws for the Alloy Weather and Rubber strip are showing as PTO 453 but are discontinued? But there is no info on what Size etc they are? Can anyone help please?
Cheers Martyn
Flat head screws with flat washer on the inside. Could use a 4mm pan head screw, washer and nut.

I am using SS countersank head screws. The holes in the header never seem to line up with the seal retaining piece and if they do the holes are often enlarged.

Hi! Anyone have a photo of the Header rail Plastic seal and how it fits onto the hood??
will take a photo later. It fits over the front edge of the header rail over the hood material and is held in place under the metal rail that holds the header seal.

just opened my Don hood that I brought from TSSC last year and it has a very small bit of paper with instructions on. Will post a copy later also had a small bag with the poppers in it. As its so small it would be easy to throw it away with the box.

I am in the process of fitting a new hood to my herald. The first job is sorting out the frame to try to get a better fit around the windows.
I never realised how many moveable joints there are on the hood frame, the design is quite complex. Most on my car are seized and I think I will end up taking all the joints apart to free them before I can get the frame correct.Mike

not difficult to get prescription safety glasses, eyes are much more expensive than a pair of glasses!
I have a pair of vary focus safety glasses worth the money.
