  1. Hello, My engine temp gauge has started reading 120f and wont go higher. The engine runs fine. When I went to check the sensor I realised it has a Smith's "mechanical" sensor and gauge, obviously changed at some point in the past. I removed the sensor and popped the end into a boiling kettle and the gauge still only rose to 120f. The oil pressure is working fine. I was a little surprised that you have to buy the whole unit at fair expense. I wanted to ask, is there anything else I can check on this gauge setup, and can I change it over to the correct unit for a 1972 GT6? I am grateful for any information out there. Ian
  2. Will give it a go, thanks very much for the help, great forum. Ian
  3. I changed the photo to a jpeg, hope it can be viewed.
  4. I need to replace my steering bush / bushes, the Haynes manual is as much use as the Beano !!! A YouTube video would be handy but I cannot find one and some of the descriptions on how to do it are a bit vague. I have removed the wheel and indicator set as you can see in the photo. Is this the top bush I can see? I am wondering how the steering lock and ignition set can be removed, or do I have to cut wires? If I want to remove the whole column, what is the easiest way to do it, do I have to chisel of the shear bolts? Any help very much appreciated. 20200414_170529.heic
  5. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to reply, I think it is time to invest in some konis.
  6. I have spax shocks on my GT6 and feel the ride is a little hard. I have adjusted the dampening, but it gets a little "floaty" if I soften them up to a comfortable level I thought that extending the spring length might help. There is a nut and lock nut at the top as you can see in the photo and a screw with a square top. Can I adjust the height from there? if so, any advice on how much, there is an inch or so of thread to play with. Seems that spax dont really give a whole lot of info on the products they make !!! Thanks for any advice if anyone has a set of these in their car. Ian Hughes 20200413_175516.heic
  7. I am in the south of France, so it does get warm here and an oil cooler may be worth considering. Anyone who has one, were would you locate the cooler and were do you take the feed and return pipes to and from? Ian
  8. Thanks for all the replies and advice, very much appreciated. Out with the Kenlow !!! Regards Ian
  9. Not sure if this has been asked before, I am relatively new so bear with me. I have a kenlow fan, in addition to the engine fan on my GT6. I had a leak in my radiator and have taken it out to replace it. I looked at the fan and I reckon it covers at least 60% of the surface of the radiator. My question is, if I have to run the electric fan to cool my engine, am I simply having to cool it because the fan body is restricting flow over the radiator and not allowing sufficient airflow to flow over the radiator to cool the coolant? I was also surprised at the amount of debris, grass, leaves etc that I found jammed behind the body. Not much you could do about it unless you removed the radiator to access it. Any thoughts on the subject?
