  1. Thanks to all, off to the steel supplier tomorrow to get a sheet to make the lower panel then I will spot weld my new Rimmer ones on top. Cheers, Steve.
  2. Hi all, bought some treadplate repair panel's from Rimmer bros ( part no.566034 ) are the original Herald ones double skinned as there is so many bodges & poor repairs on my car its hard to tell what the original step looked like, it was just filler & a step pop riveted on to give the door seal something to fit on ! This is what I have left after removing all the rust & crud. Thanks, Steve.
  3. Thanks to everyone for your replies, looks like it will be coming off in a few weeks time after I have fitted a new o/s rear chassis rail & tacked in some new door steps, with the body off I can clean / weld / rustproof / paint the under side & chassis, its all turning into a restoration instead of the quick recommissioning I was hoping for, but its a Herald saved from the scrap yard & back on the road. Thanks again, Steve.
  4. Due to finding lots of rust & poor repairs on my 13/60 it looks like it maybe time to lift the tub off the chassis to do the necessary repairs to a good standard, my question is how heavy is the tub ( with interior & boot lid & bits & bobs removed ) how many blokes to lift it safely without back injury ! Took the bed off my Ford Ranger a few years ago to to do some repairs & 2 people lifted it no problem, is the Herald possible with 2 middle age blokes !
  5. Working my way through the suspension, brakes & welding outriggers, door steps, will get it mot'd and sort out paintwork in the winter, want it on the road for the summer. It did drive home from Penzance ( 8 miles ) with no problems so it is sort of roadworthy.
  6. Have got the sill, previous owner took it off to start welding repairs & then gave up due to poor health ( well that's what he told me ! )
  7. Hi all, just picked up a cheap 1968 Herald 13/60 in need of lots of tlc, not been on the road for 5 years but it does run & drive, will be getting a budget re commissioning / minor restoration. Will have lots of questions on bodywork & panel fit, my first Herald, had a Dolomite sprint & a Spitfire before, more in to American cars but due to crazy fuel prices and lack of space thought I would try something smaller. Cheers, Steveo
