  1. One of my bugbears is suppliers who only have an email and no phone number. If you have a problem with a part, cant find something on their website , don't know what a bit is called or don't know which bit you need, or just need a bit of advice, it is so much easier if you can just talk to someone! This seems more common with the classic VW parts I have to deal with , but seems like a trend everywhere. They will say their staff are better used fulfilling orders , I would say my order may well go elsewhere!
  2. Lots of reasons , maybe been abroad. That's what I'd Like to find out. Found the Online MOT history, goes back to 2009. Presumably DVLA were satisfied with provenance to issue the age related plate.
  3. Hi I have had this car for about 18 months and thought its about time I found out about any previous History. DVLA shows as first registered 1978 and I have a photo with reg no DGF293S. There's no MOT history. Chassis no and engine no all consistent with a _'69 convertible. I have a file of photos of the restoration of the car but little else. Would love to know more Many thanks Jerry
  4. Managed to get the merest of turns of the nut which seems to have had the desired effect. The car is in a very tight garage with limited access, when I get the time I'll get her out and up on stands to give it a better go to make sure, but hopefully its sorted! Thanks
  5. Just had a quick look, wont have time to look at more today. I can see the lower end of the column moving in the connecting knuckle joint. Could it be as simple as tightening the clamp bolt? Is it worth replacing the knuckle with a UJ type?, either way it looks to be awkward to get at!
  6. I've been looking at changing the steering wheel on my Vitesse , I've noticed that the wheel and shaft move in and out 5-6 mm . Nut is tight on the column and the wheel is tight on the shaft. Is this usual? Steering feels fine and there doesn't seem to be any excessive play in the column. Thanks Jerry
  7. I saw that, but that is a 2 coil regulator. Mine is 3, and I believe the adjusters are different, same principle though
  8. Many thanks for the replies, and after some googling I think I understand how the regulator works. Will have a look with a more electrically minded friend and see if we feel confident in adjusting, otherwise I like the voltage limiters so may go that route!
  9. Autosound reckon 14, maybe 14.5 at a push. How would I adjust the voltage down please?
  10. Vitesse MK2. Just fitting an Autosound Vintage 100 dab radio. Works fine through auxiliary position on ignition and though main ignition switch when first starting. But after a mile or so the DAB cuts out and most of the other functions of the radio wont work. Switching off and on while driving does not help! Get home turn it on again and it's fine! Spoken to Autosound, they suggest I may have too much voltage off the dynamo. At idle I'm getting 12.5 ish but at higher revs (2,-3000) it topping out at 14.9 ish Does this seem too much? If so how to rectify? Any help gratefully received
