  1. thanks for that DanMi. i was hoping it was like that, as i had already held them to the carbs and was forming that opinion. makes me wonder why they are coded differently if it's that simple, even i could work it out, but prefer confirmation. 👊
  2. new jets have arrived for my carbs. I seem to remember that the colour rings indicate front or rear carb fitment. Am i right? my existing old jets have only got the black ring on the front carb, so not much data to x ref there. new ones have black/grey and black/brown rings and my question is :- which is front( if it matters).? I have read the manual and surfed the net, but came up empty, so i'm hoping for knowledge from the crew! thanks.
  3. Can any member, in a suitably acknowledged position, help me with authenticating my car please? I am becoming increasingly frustrated at DVLA's inability/unhelpfulness with the matter, plus my own inability to find a club member to assist. I live in Rochester, Kent so it would be great if someone close to the area could assist with confirmation.🙂 I have the forms required, via Trudi, but cannot return them until this is done. So please, if there is anybody out there, i would be very grateful. I'm losing the will to live at the moment!
  4. Patrick. i'm all over the place with this forum😕. I'll get it soon, i hope. i,ve got the plate details ok, plus a copy of registration from Kent archive centre. my problem is finding someone to authenticate the car and fill in the form. Once that's done, i can send the paperwork back to Trudi for her to take over. I have messaged a couple of members close to me, but no replies forthcoming. Until i can get that done, i am stuck, as DVLA won't accept the proof from me. It has to go through the club. Oh well, some kind member is out there somewhere, just need to find them. 😄
  5. Excellent stable mates😃. apologies for the tardy reply, had a few probs with my wife's health, so haven't been about the car or computer for a while.
  6. Is there anybody close to the Medway area in Kent who can help me with an inspection for registration purposes? Trudi has furnished me with the paperwork for club help, but the car is currently off the road for restoration. Hopefully, there is a kind individual out there who can help, or suggest any other options. Thanks.
  7. Thanks John. Not a problem, i have one. I was more concerned that i was missing something obvious that i was not aware of. cheers.
  8. Can anyone out there help with inertia starter clearances? i have searched the w/m from end to end, but can't find any refererence to the shimming of the motor. unfortunately, there wasn't a starter or shims with the car, so i have no idea of the clearance required. It's a 1300 spitfire lump and i've just fitted a new ring gear to go with the new starter. what's the default ? how far in should it be? thanks.
  9. Thanks for that. I’ve never had one of these stripped and I was a bit incredulous as to why there wasn’t one. I didn’t notice any gauze, so I’ll have to look into that. The engine has never been stripped and everything is stamped standard, with no wear. It’s only stripped because it’s been stood 10 yrs or more and I didn’t know why.🤔😀
  10. Hey guys. Can anyone help with oil pump pick up query? Is there a strainer on the pickup tube of a 1300 spitfire engine?
  11. Thanks Paul. I appreciate that.👊 you may be sorry!!
  12. Thanks for the welcome Pete. I did a 5 year app' as a mechanic in the late 60's, so i'm not phased by the mechanics or bodywork. The finer points of body removal however, may throw some "what's the easiest way" type questions.😁
  13. Hello all. As a new member, i thought an introduction would be in order. I have taken on a project Bond Equipe S4 that i purchased from a former club member here in Medway Kent. Hopefully, there won't be too many Gremlins in the works, but rest assured, i will be seeking helpful knowledge from the membership when required! 😁 It's been stored for a good number of years so all mechanics and brakes etc to strip and sort, plus the obligatory chassis outriggers. Well, what else has a man to do with himself. The Alpine is it's stablemate, which will make life awkward for removing the body.
