Who supplies recon engines nowadays?

My 1961 Herald 1200 needs a short engine. It may work out cheaper to buy one than get my current engine reconditioned. Bernard Littlewood has suggested I look for one with warranty. Any advice from you brilliant chaps?

Bernard sorted out a lot of issues with this car last year including reconditioning the head.

Hi - I would like to recommend a company in Soham Cambridgeshire, the trouble is Mountain Ash to Soham would be a bit of a treck for you, sadly engine repairers are a disappearing breed. You could give them a call and see what they say?

The company I am suggesting is “Ivor Searle” their phone number is 01353720531, I know from experience they are very good, I cannot imagine they would still keep engines like ours for sale, but I would bet they would do whatever you need - assuming there is not a great big hole in one of the cylinder walls - having the engine restored should be cost effective.
