GT6 Rotoflex rear suspension

Recommended Posts

Thanks for all the assistance, success on one side - the other still to do. Following all the advice above the following sequence worked:

  1. Raise spring as high as possible with lifter
  2. Use jack to raise upright so holes were at same level, holes out of alignment by around 1/2-3/4 inch
  3. Took band of rotoflex - not sure if this helped but thought if might allow a little more movement in the upright
  4. Used pry bar between very end of spring and upright to lever upright back. Small pry bar to start then larger as the upright moved back. Alternated sides and first a very small screwdriver then larger ones went through the upright and spring bush
  5. Used an old bolt with end ground down to a point to drive all the way through from the wrong side once close to alignment
  6. Use the new bolt to drive out the ground down bolt

Any tips on how you did it. I can't get the upright close enough to the spring to even try the ground down bolt suggestion.

Thanks

Mike

Probably not the ideal method and certainly not approved by Health and Safety:

Car was on a two post lift with a long  bar clamped to the spring. Outer end of bar was lifted with a transmission jack.  Second transmission jack was used under the bottom of the upright to lift the suspension until spring eye and top of upright were as close as could be achieved then a drill rod dowel was used to align the holes before the bolt was persuaded to go through.

Definitely not an easy job - Good luck !
