  1. Hi Ive recently purchase a new set of carpets and underfelt in the Rimmer brothers sale, but they did not come with any fitting instructions. There is a video on you tube that says to glue carpets in place but it did not use any underfelt? Should i glue the underfelt in place and if i do then how does the carpet get held in place? Any guidance would be appreciated. They are the standard carpets by the way and not the moulded ones. Thanks Mark
  2. Thanks for the responses, Theres fuel flowing into both carbs and i have the correct adjustments set. havent tried checking for slivers of rubber yet so i'll try that at the weekend, i'll double check my leads as well, i did try a strobe on all the leads and it was lighting up fine when the engine was turning over Cheers Mark
  3. Hi I have a 1977 Spitfire 1500 Ive just rebuilt my carbs, new jets, needles, valves, gaskets. They have both been reset (jet adjusting screw 2 turns anti clockwise and idle screw 2.5 turns clockwise), ready for tuning. Trouble is i cant get the engine to start, it turns over and i can confirm a spark at each plug. Any idea's? Thanks Mark

  6. Hi, I have had a similar issue where the backlighting for my instruments were really dim although all bulbs were working. I removed all of the green plastic filters (which most had burnt out), and replaced the bulbs with green LED's that i bought off ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10PC-New-GREEN-E10-10mm-Screw-In-12V-18V-Led-Bulb-Light-for-LIONEL-1447-1447G-GL-/191736146967?hash=item2ca45d6c17:m:msEvLlK0qXp3yu3iCwu4phg Vast improvement Regards Mark
  7. They have no writing on them at all, just coloured stripes
  8. No worries Iain, Can anyone advise what type and voltage rated capacitor will do. At Maplins I can find a number of 0.022 uF and 47 uF capacitors but none rated at 12v? Thanks Mark

  11. Hi, ive just replaced a tachometer that didnt work in my Spitfire 1500. I brought the replacement tacho off ebay and it was sold as working. Ive connected it up as per the original but as soon as the ignition is switched on the needle moves to the 70 position and remains there, any ideas? I have two green wires which connect to the spade terminal, a white and black wire to the bullet terminal and two black wires to the body earth? Thanks Mark
