  1. Hi Pete, thanks for info on handbrake will give it a go once I have sorted the master cylinder issue.
  2. Thanks for the info Clive and Pete. I forgot to add that the car is fitted with a remote servo. I will give the new .7 cylinder a go and see what happens,at least it will change the brake fluid in the system! Is the handbrake always bad on the Vitesse? According to all the old MOTs it only just gets through the handbrake test with an advisory issued about it.
  3. Continuation from previous topic on correct brake master cylinder for Bond equipe 2 litre. The one fitted now looks like a clutch master cylinder so I purchased the correct one which has a .7 bore and larger reservoir as per the workshop manual. Before I removed the old master cylinder I checked the bore size and found that it was 3/4 bore which is larger than the correct one. The symptom I have is a fair amount of pressure is required to stop the car, more than it should be. The car pulls up in a straight line and both calipers are free. On a previous Forum it was suggested that a larger size than is required could give this problem. Did the 2 litre Vitesse have a 3/4 bore master cylinder fitted or has someone just used what they had at the time? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  4. Thanks for replies, I will get hold of later cylinder when at the Beaulieu autojumble.
  5. Thanks John. I know that it is the bore size that matters but is the brake cylinder bore size the same as the clutch bore size? The manual does not state the sizes. Maybe somebody just fitted what they could get hold of at the time. On the earlier 1600 Vitesse the pictures show both cylinders being of the same size and on the later Vitesse the brake cylinder is larger than the clutch. The brakes are OK but would like to fit correct cylinder. Car is fitted with remote servo.
  6. Have got Bond Equipe two litre of 1968 vintage. I have noticed that the master cylinder for the brakes is the same size as the clutch one. Surely the brake one should be larger or is the bore size the same for both but the brake one just has a larger reservoir for the fluid. Hope you can help.
  7. thanks for info. I have e-mailed Guy and will wait response.

    bond exhaust

Does anybody know what is the correct exhaust system for a two litre bond equipe? My one has the box mounted in the middle between the chassis rails and it knocks on the rails sometimes. I see the vitesse has the box mounted at the back with just the pipe running in between the chassis rails, this looks correct to me. Hope somebody can help.
  9. Just bought Bond Equipe mk1 fitted with 2 litre engine. Does this require a fuel additive to run on unleaded fuel? The engine was rebuilt to stage two spec but the previous owner did not know whether the head was modified to run on unleaded. I have heard that this engine could run on unleaded fuel without an additive but until I know for sure I will use an additive. Hope all you Triumph people can put me on the right path. First Triumph I have owned apart from a Mayflower.
