  1. I’ve also loosened the side rail bolts as well. That looks a handy tool.
  2. All the bolts seemed to have loosened off fairly easily and have lifted. The rear outriggers were replaced in 2016.
  3. I’ll have to look into that idea, although the gap between the tub and the chassis is limited.
  4. I have been jacking the tub with wood just to spread the load.
  5. Thanks for the heads up. I have undone the outrigger bolts, there’s 2 on each side but still no joy.
  6. Yes I’ve loosened the bolts above the diff tunnel, these are the bolts that the shock bracket slides into. I’ve checked the seatbelts and they seem okay.
  7. Hi. I’m looking for some advice on the TSSC rear shock conversion for a MK2 Vitesse. I’ve bought the TSSC kit and the instructions tell you to loosen the bolts on the rear tub, then jack the tub gently just to create enough space to insert the brackets between the body and the chassis. I’ve done this, but when I jack it up the whole car is lifting, the tub seems to be fused to the chassis. I’m wondering if anyone has any other ideas. I don’t think the tub has ever been of the chassis since new.
  8. Thanks Pete. What type of gearbox oil was going to be my next question.
  9. Thanks for the advice. Yes it only does it in overdrive.
  10. Please can you good people give me some advice. When driving my Vitesse, with the overdrive engaged, if I accelerate moderately hard, it feels like the overdrive disengages, but if I lift off the accelerator it cuts back in. Is this normal? Or is something possibly starting to fail. Thanks
  11. Pete. That sums up my experience very nicely. The car was subsequently inspected after it was purchased and condemned as a 'death trap'. Having two young children, this has left a feeling of resentment towards the trader who should have known about the dangerous faults. Thankfully the car is now in a safe road worthy condition, and my family are now slowly buying into my dream of classic car ownership and all the pleasures it can bring.
  12. I bought my Vitesse earlier this year from a certain trader in Hertfordshire, but unfortunately my experience has been a costly one.
  13. I believe it was around £800, although I had other work undertaken at the same time. I did speak to Quickfitsbs who were going to be cheaper, but I don't think they do any body strengthening.
  14. I've attached a couple of pictures, sorry ther not very clear. You can see that the hood frame has been strengthened. I haven't tested the strength of the mounting, but have driven with 2 adults in the back.
