  1. They didn’t recommend any fittings. They claim it’s an exact replacement. Fitting required cutting a cross bar in the boot, modifying the fuel sender and this pipe problem.
  2. Thanks for the response. I can’t use the old fitting as alicool tanks have the pipe fitting Does not have anything for the olive to press against. The nut can be tight, but the pipe spins and leaks.
  3. Hi, Could I ask for some help in trying to identify the fuel pipe union I require. I have replace the fuel tank on my MkII with an after market replica tank (not going to comment on the agro that has caused), but anyway, I cannot use the old pipe nut / olive set up. I’m trying to identify the thread size etc so I can order the correct part. I know I need pipe diameter 5/16”, but not sure on the thread size required - I’m guessing 1/2” and I assume BSPT type - but tbh very confused. Any help would be appreciated before I leave this supposedly replicable car to sit for yet another year. Thanks
  4. So from here i'm mow in a dilema: 1. Does anyone still sell 5-terminal acr alternators? As i suspect not, subject to any evidence: 2. Does anyone have any clear wiring diagrams for a 5- to 3- terminal conversion. I don't want to try an guess how to hack the loom.
  5. I've purchased the uprated alternator for my 69 GT6 mk2. When trying to fit the unit i noticed the back casing was different and the plugs don't match. Has anybody bought this part from Canley's (GXE8206) and fitted it to a GT6. What do I need to change to make this work? Thanks Frank
  6. Hi Firstly - Happy New Year I currently have a problem with my 69 GT6 Mk2. Recently in a run the GT6 cut out while under load going up a hill. Just before cutting out the running felt bogged down and under powered, before sending a loud backfire and stopping. Getting it restarted involved keeping my foot to the floor until all the cylinders ran evenly, but still got bogged down if going over 3000 rpm and higher than 2nd gear. On returning to the workshop the plugs were removed and found to be blackened, so I'm hazarding a guess at flooding under load. My setup is: Malpassi Fuel King pressure regular (includes fuel filter) - set to 2 psi Refurbished original fuel pump Strombergs Carbs Could this problem be related to the fuel pressure being too high or is this a carb tweak? Are there any other possible solutions? Many thanks, Frank
  7. I had a similar problem with my GT6 with Strombergs (on this forum). My problem was caused by the fuel pump being stuck open. As I tried to turn over the engine fuel poured out. The way we proved it was to put a fuel filter between the pump and carbs - the filter completely filled. I eventually refurbed the fuel pump and fitted a pressure regulator.
  8. Just as an update - he's now starting. There was a combination of issues: Fuel pump stuck open - we reconditioned the pump. This then cause flooding only on the rear carb, likely caused by excess fuel pressure - so fitted fuel pressure regulator. Still wouldn't start - every time the distributor cap was taken off and replaced we spluttered to life momentarily. Changed the distributor cap, not change, then condenser still no go. Then noticed the condenser was pressing on the points. Moved this around and regapped the points - fired on the key. Many thanks for the help given. Now he's ready for his first MOT in 29 years.
  9. I have now bought the malpassi fuel pressure regulator. Can i now ask where people have mounted them please? If there is also a pic that would be great. thanks
  10. Thanks Clive, yes it's for Carbs - Strombergs.
  11. Hi I need to fit a fuel pressure regulator to my GT6. Which is the best one out there? Thanks frank
  12. Ignition has been checked and all is sparking correctly. Considered the float chambers and needle valve - gave them a tap to see if this freed them up if sticky. Tried to start car but no change. Fuel pump was tapped by hammer, this appeared to temporarily fix the problem as the car nearly fired, hence being confident the problem is likely a sticky fuel pump.
  13. The spark plugs have been checked, as has the distributor cap and rotor arm. My friend is a mechanic and is very convinced it's fuel pump. A tap on the pump with a hammer meant the car splutter to life temporarily before flooding again.
  14. I have a GT6 Mk2 with CD150S carbs fitted. The engine has been running, bug after a few weeks now will not start. Symptoms: 1. Carbs flooding 2. Plugs getting very wet The fuel pump is original fit and has been running correctly. I've fitted an in-line fuel filter which appears excessively full. Looking now for best approach forwards, my thoughts currently: 1. Buy a fuel pump kit from James Paddocks and rebuild 2. Switch to electronic fuel pump - if so which is best? Thanks
