  1. Not wanting to sound daft, Whats the reason for having a register of names just to go and have your car displayed on your own club stand, I know there will be limited places but this sounds a very formal way of doing things. Does this mean that you are invited to attend instead of a first come first served open invitation via the forum.
  2. I have seen on the festivals website that the club are having a club stand. Who can display their car as I thought something would of been put on here asking for members to display their cars. This normally happens with other car clubs is this not the same here.
  3. Thanks, looks like we can repair the one we have with a little work. Will just add to the fun of replacing yet more stuff.
  4. Can anyone tell me if a 1969 13/60 herald bonnet will fit on a mk1 2ltr vitesse and are there any modifications bar putting on a vitesse front headlamp panel which changes it from single to twin lights. If it does then are there any difference between a saloon bonnet and the convertible one. Any help would be gratefully received.
  5. Thanks for the info, sounds like a superb car.
  6. While I agree with some of what Colin has said I cannot agree with everything. " if Triumphs become too expensive then prospective owners will move on to something cheaper; we’re left with cars that swallowed huge amounts of money on rebuilds but won’t reach anywhere near that on resale." If this was the case then owners of good tr5, tr6, e-types, and numerous other makes would be stuck with there cars but this does not seem to be the case. Even when there was a boom and bust economy in the 90s the bust did not last long as prices in classic cars started to rise and overtake the prices they had reached at their peak. Properly restored cars will always sell, they just don't change hands as much as the more poorly treated ones due to people thinking they can buy a "good" one cheap and then realise that they need to spend a lot more money in up keep. Oh and please excuse my ignorance but who is or was Hugh Robert ?
  7. This is one for the club, could the values of these cars be re-looked into and then adjusted. If this was done as a club then wouldn't the people who put values on classic cars ie classic car mag have to look at their valuations ?
  8. Is it not time that the values of Vitesse Convertibles are re-vamped, the reason I say this is that one has not long sold at auction in america for over £17,000. I know there will be a few that wont want the values to go to high because this would take the car out of reach for a lot of people, but surely this now sets the bench mark for concourse cars. I personally believe that each classic has its time when it joins the next level in the world of classic cars and as such all owners should embrace this and price their car accordingly regardless of weather it puts the value out of reach to others.
  9. Thanks for the replys guys, have bought an overdrive d type gearbox along with the drive shaft from a 2ltr vitesse. I also have another shorter driveshaft from a gt6 i will pick up the other bits i need when i start the restoration. This is likely to be a while as i have the vitesse convertible to get finished first and then it will be a choice between which of the gt6s i get done.
  10. Thanks for the reply, are there any modifications needed if a j type box was fitted instead of a d type.
  11. I have just purchased a gt6 with non overdrive, if i want to put an overdrive unit in is there a choice of units to use. The gt6 is a mk3. Any help would be appreciated.

  13. Lucky Lad getting to do his first resto with dad, memory's that will stay forever.
  14. Thanks Clive, Its a car that will need to be restored so it might be worth considering.
  15. Is a fully restored gt6 with an original gt6 engine but not the one that should be with the car worth less than one that has matching numbers or dosent it matter.
  16. I contacted the HQ and the very nice lady said i had to be a full member to get the info but i could wait till the fri 7th and then she would give me the details. This was because she said it was club policy to give first choice to members. Whilst i understand this, we all know this will not be the case as someone might know a member and get them to get the details. I thought the fact that someone wanted to buy one of these cars and get them back on the road would be the overall deciding factor when selling and not that it should be offered to a member first. I have been the member of a lot of car clubs over the years and i dont want to do that again. I do like many enjoy going on the forums but my main aim is to save cars that i like from rotting into oblivion.
  17. I have spotted a gt6 mk3 for sale along with a vitesse convertible on the club classified. I was wondering if any one had recieved the club magazine and could give me the contact details for both of these cars. Tried the club hq but they wouldent give me the numbers. just looking to build up my collection. Thanks
  18. Looking to fit inertia front seatbelts in the vitesse, can you fit front belts from any car or do i need to fit a certain type. I have seen a pair of new ones on ebay which will fit a gt6 can these be used.
  19. Enjoy your day, would do a trackday but i am a bit to precious over my cars to let an idiot who thinks he can drive in his suped up corsa give me a not so friendly bump. I an sure you have meet the type.
