  1. sorry this has happened to you,.

one thing i would caution you about is do not be in to much of a hurry to replace expensive  stuff as the scum who stole it will likely come back again as he would guess you will get new stuff and steal that as well, perhaps you could keep it in a secure place for a while

to second petes  post lidl often have some good tool offers--keep an eye on their web sit also ebay usually has second hand stuff which is often a/f and whitworth sizes..

  2. hi all,

    compliments of the season.

i am thinking of fitting a new  courier rear spring from canleys with a 1 inch lowering block and renewing all the bushes to my 13/60/

the rear end crashes and bangs and hops about on over bumps so is in need of attention, the s/absorbers are new woodhead monroes but they made no difference

what does the panel think ?

    cheeers

  3. i rang mr papworth for some advice and a quote for a gearbox for my 13/60 and was asked to send him an email which i did nearly a week ago but have received no response.

has anyone else had problems communicating with him?.

  4. i seem to remember that i also had to unscrew 2 nuts under the dash and also the heater distribution cable then it just lifted out .it was quite easy to do,it was also easy to fit back in except that the rubber grommet on the air intake disintigrated  so i have temporarily fitted gaffer tape around it .

if you are doing it to get your matrix cleaned i took mine to a radiator specialist and you would not believe how much crud was in it when they opened it up

    good luck.

  5.  hi all, i have had a new u/j and balance on the propshaft of my 1969 13/60 fitted with a 4 syncro box but am still getting some vibration from the strap type shaft .

i have been talking to dave mac who can make a solid type shaft for a reasonable price--is this worth doing ? and are the different types of shaft the same length irrespective of the gearbox fitted (obviously not o/drive type ).

    cheers

  6. yes it was a good meet --lots of triumphs but only 1 13/60, 1 early herald, one dolomite and one vittess, quite a few tr6,s though and a nice tr3 and a couple of spitfires and gt6,s

i was expecting there to be a lot more heralds and vittesses  as i know there are quite a few about within easy traveling distance of H.W but perhaps they have gone into early hibernation or they were at goodwood..

there was a lovely renown in great condition as well, there cannot be many of these left on the road.

there was the usual great variety of other cars.

shame you could not make it.

    cheers

  7. hi all,

just a heads up about the white lion antiques centre in hartley witney classic car breakfast meeting .

the theme for this sunday (13th ) is triumph so hopefully lots will turn up--there is usually up to 200 + cars turn up through the morning and the bacon butties are great.

hopefully the weather forecast is not too bad so there should be a good turnout.

hartley witney is easy to get too from berks.surrey hampshire and west london so lets get a good turnout  of triumphs.

    see you there !

  8. i have rattle from the gearbox/clutch area on my 13/60 which is worse when cold .when i push the clutch pedal down fully the noise stops,i thought it could be the clutch release bearing but someone has suggested that it is more likely to be the layshaft bearing.

the gearbox has good syncro and no whines when driving also it has only done 12000miles.

i should also mention that there is a slight vibration from the drivetrain between 30 and 50 mph even though the prop has been balanced recently.

    what does the team think?
