  1. I have been in contact with PowerSpark and they say that it is one of their distributors, but say that the module is a Powerspark Half Moon Black Electronic Ignition Module M4 59D, 45D, 45D6. If you look at the Rotor Arm, it looks like it has been tracking so I have ordered a new one complete with Dist'r cap and plug leads. Bye the way it is paired with a Lucas Gold DLB105 which PowerSpark say is a good match to the Distributor. Thanks everyone for their input, another query solved. Hope it solves the mis fire as well.
  2. I thought Powerspark utilised a Ring with magnets in it which fits over the distributor shaft. If you look at the photographs there is NO ring just a sharp cornered "cam" (for want of a better word) which is staked to the distributor shaft.
  3. Hi, still trying to find out what I have got. Can anyone tell me what/who's electronic distributor this is (photos below)
  4. Hi, I have just bought a 13/60 and it's engine number is RD1226ESS. I am confused because RD is supposed to be 1300 FWD. Can any one PLEASE help me understand this engine.
  5. No it's a Reece Fish, the Minnow is a different version of the Fish. A great carb, but because it was so efficient at Vaporising the fuel it had a tendency to freeze if it was a cold damp day. One solution was to use Cleveland Discol fuel which had Alcohol in it, thereby stopping the freezing. The solution I came up with when using a carb input trumpet was to wrap resistance wire round the outside of the trumpet and wire to the battery via a switch. It was only necessary to use it whilst the engine warmed up. Once warmed up the was enough heat to stop the fuel freezing. The other alternative as just to stop and wait for a while until a little bit of heat percolated through to the carb.
  6. I have just purchased a 13/60, which has had quite a lot of mods. Among those are twin H4 SU Carbs. I consider these to be much too big for the engine and would like to get a/some carburettors more suited to the size of the engine. I see my options as (a) twin 1.25 HS2s, (b) a single H4, or (c) put on my Reece Fish carburettor. a) would seem to be fairly easy to source from a Spitfire. Does it matter what year/model. Any one any idea about needles. Apart from 0.030" off the head, I believe the rest of the engine to be standard. b) where would I get a manifold from to do this? c) this might be my preferred option, the Fish is a fantastic carburettor, but would require a manifold that would take a single 1.25" HS2 (Fish has same flange dimensions). I should probably mention that the Exhaust manifold is a 4 into 2 into 1 tubular type.
  7. Just screw in by hand until the Plug hits the head (cylinder head!), then a further quarter turn. That used to be the manufacturers instructions in the 60s and 70s.
