  1. Stag forum has a number of owners over time with similar problems, most seem to have been solved by fitting a pressure regulator to lower the fuel pressure and fitting new needle valves.  It could be linked to a cr*p parts problem so just because the valves have been changed doesnt mean they have been improved.

Running rich could be a clue to a higher than required fuel pressure.

  2. If, as I suspect on my car, this initial process is not carried out correctly is there any way to clean the pads and start again?

Not sure if this will work but may be worth a try, it used to work for me when the car had been left standing and the brakes were pulling to one side.

Whip the pads out and run a file across the face of the pads to take off any glaze or build up. Be craeful not to breathe any of the dust etc.

Then put the pads back in and try the bedding in process, nothing to lose and may just work.

  3. Mike Papworth has done two diffs for me, one in a TR6 and one in my current Stag. I drove a 150 miles each way to make sure it went to someone who knew what they were doing. I would have no hesitation in using him again. He also sorted 2 minor jobs that he noticed whilst the car was with him but only after I gave the go ahead. Photos of what has been done and takes the time to explain how and why.

My Stag drives soooo quietly now it is a pleasure to take get behind the wheel and drive, apart from it being a Triumph of course ;)

  4. I had wires on a TR6 and the day before an mot one of the tubeless tyres split the inner tube, resulting in a frantic effort to get a replacement fitted in the morning of the mot. I fitted a set of minilights within a week and they completely transformed the cars handling especially on bends and country roads. I know you can get tubeless wires now but once i had driven the car with minilites it was no contest.
