Piglet
I am wondering...my previous MK3s had two levers but I've heard the earlier models had a different set up? Alex
Josef
Yes. Early cars had clasps like the Herald, later ones had levers like you’re thinking of. Changeover was FD13,980. Also the hood frames were beige before FD29,587. (Yes I did have to look those numbers up!)

Josef
Dave of The Spitfire Graveyard has one on eBay I see https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175274525689?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=MR3iu0lkRBe&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=en_MztWYTyu&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY (it’ll be a good one too knowing him). Piglet
Just had a look but that one is the later type. My car is 1967 so I'm assuming it's the earlier frame? However I am going to check out his eBay shop! Alex
Josef
I was going to say check you commission number as that FD13k ish changeover number will have been built in something like the last quarter of 1967, but that of course doesn’t guarantee you that someone hasn’t swapped out the windscreen frame at some time in the past. Safest bet would be to take your hardtop off as the top of the windscreen frame will either have the holes for the later type lever arrangement, or not. Though you may have the fittings the earlier hood frame would hook on to fitted and visible inside the car?
Piglet
Thanks mate. Next couple of sunny days I'll get the hard top off and see what's what. Alex
