SpitfireGeorge
Hi Guys, Bought a Stack brand petrol gauge which needs to be set for the sender unit in use. Anybody know the fuel tank sender unit (Spitfire Mk3) resistance? Cheers, Brett
johny
The most likely would be a sender working with a stabilised 10v supply for a bimetallic instrument which would give ohms 240 empty, 68 half and 20 full. Earlier vehicles might have had moving iron instruments with a completely different set up...
SpitfireGeorge
Thanks Johny I will set it for that and see how it goes. Cheers Brett
johny
Looks a nice bit of kit and I see it has a setting for 240 - 33 ohms but surely as theres no exact match you'll use the custom sensor calibration? Dont forget you still need to leave the original 10v stabilised supply powering the temperature gauge.... Let us know how you get on👍
SpitfireGeorge
Will do. As long as it is close when full and accurate when empty it will do. From my reading of the instructions I would need to do the custom setting in a garage forecourt! Cheers Brett
SpitfireGeorge
Funnily enough I have replaced the temperature gauge with a Smith's one.

Or just set it up moving the float by hand with the sender out of the tank?
SpitfireGeorge
Sounds a good idea Johny. Thanks.
