Ian,

Have a look at Steve Weblin's webpage / blog etc - he can be searched via Members using steveweblin; you may find some information there as he is trying to assimilate all Triumph dealers in the UK and I think abroad as well.

Regards.

Richard.

F R Northcott, Mill Street, Sidmouth are listed in several directories that you check out at: http://vitessesteve.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/triumph-car-dealer-directories.html - They are listed up to March 1972. March 1974 show no dealer in Sidmouth.

I do not have any photos of this firm yet.  Have you tried searching local history groups or forum.  Many such group have websites or facebook groups and I have found them a very fruitful source in the past.

Thanks Richard & Steve.

F R Northcott must have closed down in 1972, I've checked my car's service book and the garage stamps change to other garages from 1973 onwards. The Northcott site is a car park now by the looks of it.

Please share a scan of any dealer stamps you have.  Every contribution helps me build a better collection of information from which to write posts and share with enquirers.

Here you go Steve, hopefully these will be of use?

I don't know whether the servicing garages after F R Northcott were Triumph dealerships, or just general motor engineers. Interestingly 'Stephens Cross Garage' felt the need to rename to 'Stevens Cross Garage' between 1973 and 1974, changing its phone number from Sidmouth 289 to Sidmouth 2889.

None of the official dealer directories published in March 1972, March 1974 and May 1975 show any Triumph dealers in Sidmouth.  I have no details about Stevens Cross.

Looks like Sidmouth locals had to go further afield for their new Triumphs once F.R.Northcott closed down.

Ian,

As you are in Oz at the moment, perhaps you can make some enquires to ascertain if there were any Triumph dealerships in your locality; certainly worth a sniff.

Good luck.

Richard.

I'm going to be visiting the Australian National Car Museum whilst in the Adelaide area, so I'll grill one of the staff there!!

Will also be attending the 'All British Day' classic car meeting at Echunga in the Adelaide Hills on the 9th February......…so hopefully will be rubbing shoulders with some Triumph owners there.

The Missus will be coming along to the 'All British Day' Richard...…..in fact we're being taken there in a pair of Sunbeam Alpines by some very generous local enthusiasts (me in a Series 1, Shirley in a Series 5)……...but she drew the line at the Australian National Motor Museum!!!...…...so I'll be tackling that one single handed.
