  2. Will do - just trying to nail another issue so might be larger order now than originally envisaged!
  3. http://forum.tssc.org.uk/index.php?/gallery/image/1087-spitfire-edited/ I have tried to put a edited (free software so please excuse watermark) video of my issue. Its large but might be easier to see and hear issue. Worth a try I thought.

  5. Not sure I have auto chokes as I have a manual choke lever inside car. Don't know if the carbs themselves have thermostatic auto chokes...
  6. Thanks again Pete. With other stuff going on I had to cancel MoT today because I have not got time to address issue. Determined to make County Day, must try harder! Will keep all updated, failed to get an MP4 uploaded, too large I suspect. Thanks all.
  7. It will hardly go now and the smoke from the exhaust is brown when it chokes up. I get backfires too. Cannot find any air leaks in fuel system. Took a video of it running, will try to post. Thanks
  8. Thanks for reply, will try shop. Cannot find online anywhere a direct borg & beck filter replacement.
  9. Hi, I have a borg & beck bfo 4073 oil filter on car at the moment but what other equivalents are available as struggling to get a direct replacement. Thanks
  10. Great info from all and very much appreciated, lots of checks, cleaning and bits to do then! Many thanks, will keep all updated.
  11. Hi all, After sorting my rear earths out (and let fuel run low), I have taken my Spitfire 1500 out and I am losing power when opening the throttle. It seems when I accelerate hard it splutters and jerks. Now I initially suspected low fuel so I put 5 litres in but its the same. Now I am thinking fuel system crud, needles blocked, plugs, carbs, etc but do not know where to start. I crept home after only half a mile of running it. Its fine idling but when blipping the throttle there is a stutter from carb(s) which then manifests to the stutter when driving. Trying to pull off a junction is a nightmare! How some have ideas when best to start please. Meant to be going for MoT week tomorrow but now might not make it!
  12. Thanks all, I found a bad earth on the opposite side of problem (drive side brake light earth) and all works now. Blinky and Stoppies. However time to move to a new forum as I have taken it out today and when accelerating I am experiencing spluttering - I think running it on low fuel might have cost me some dirt in something or other electrical / firing issues. Thanks again though for all the help here!
  13. Thanks John & Richard, Found a small washer pump along the washer pipe so either another earth issue or pump or switch. Also progress on rear indicator fault - got it back working, but now I have no brake lights! Start of a work list already. Thanks all for the contributions.
  14. Doug, That brought a smile to face, very funny! Obviously still plenty to learn with the car....my wipers are so slow I expect them to stop at any minute but they keep going, sort of! Thanks again
  15. Pete/Doug/John, Many thanks for replies and taking time to help and sorry for acknowledging that as have been away. I will check the earthing thanks. It is a claw type with a pin at bottom so with take out claw holder and have a good look around. Not gone back to this yet. On another topic are windscreen wipers notorisly slow on all models? Also have no windscreen washer. Just looking at things that MOT might pick up!!!! Thanks again...
  16. Hi all, Help required warning. After a time away and it feeling like spring today I thought I would blow the cobwebs off the car and have a spin. First turn left and I noticed indicator light on dash stayed on and it did not repeat. Got home and found front indicator stays on, rear does not indicate at all! Rear bulb is intact and cleaned its contact however it still does not work. At one point I had the brake lights come on when I put the indicator on but that did not come back after a while of testing. I do not know much about wiring gremlins so has anyone experienced this before? Is there an issue with the repeater, an earth issue or a front bulb issue? Hopefully someone has seen this before and its an easy fix or find! Any help much appreciated!

    Shop images

Hi Went to the shop to look at Spitfire 1500 exhaust parts and there are no images to assist in viewing. Is there any forthcoming plans to have photos of stock items? Cheers
  21. Hi, Love the picture on front of Courier 418, but could I ask what is a standard exhaust? I like the twin boxes but don't know what standard fit was? Cheers
  22. Cheers Graham - V power has definitely stopped the overrun. Funny you mention BMW, nearly bought one then bought the Spitfire instead!
  23. Yes that's right. I did things all in reverse. I narrowed my choice of cars down to four when looking so didn't join TSSC until purchasing the Spitfire. Bought car, got insurance (plus agreed valuation and breakdown cover) then joined TSSC and found they had a valuation process. I will await the valuation from Lancaster and then decide if I need one via TSSC process. Cheers
  24. Cheers Clive - regular runs it is
