I have heard the new age is to be known as Carolean or something?
Earliest memory was of watching the Coronation on a tiny tv in a hotel in Torquay at the age of 4. God Save the King.

Never never BUTTER. In Devon we do it reet - Cream always first - replaces the need for butter - and plenty of jam of whatever you fancy on top. People have even been known to put honey on top. I could not possibly comment.
Any refugees from other counties are always welcome in Devon though Steveo may need to bring his passport - our natives are reasonably accepting though.

My 13/60 Herald Convertible was bought new by my Father in 1969 from local dealership Evans & Cutler in Totnes. Always used by my Doctor Father as his second car and always with the roof down. Even 20 plus years after his death, the little car is unbelievably still recognised as the Doctor's car, and indeed even a couple of weeks ago at Powderham Show, the biggest in Devon, a lady asked my husband if it was a Torquay car, then went on to say she was sure it was her Aunt's Doctor's car. Things like that make her very special indeed. My beloved Dad lives on every time I drive the Herald and he instilled in me my love of cars and driving them.
Her stablemate is a 1972 Stag known as 'Frugal' cos she isn't.

We had our first Devon Club meeting back at the Star Inn, Liverton just off the Drumbridges (Newton Abbot) roundabout on the A38 in July. Rewarded for our change of venue, we had a brilliant turnout of Triumphs, good food served promptly and a great welcome from the landlords, James & Heidi.
We will be back there for our August meeting on Wednesday 17 August from around 6.30 pm.
Great level car park too and we love to see Triumph owning visitors to Devon too. Just remember which way we have our scones - and you should not have to ask unless you are Cornish!

Colin - I understand Stafford was actually cheaper than Malvern but I stand to be corrected. I am looking forward to questionnaire arriving.
- Real incentive needed for pre-booking by a cut off date - many have said they did not realise there was a discount on prebooking
- Paying at gate gives little or nothing to the organising Clubs from past experience - but now people increasingly do not plan ahead.
- TR Reg were the majority of those pre-booked. Little interest from TSSC (who were supposed to WANT to return to Stafford, or from MGOC
In response to Stephen Cooper - what universe do you inhabit where a LOSS is a better choice than being financially circumspect for the future of the Clubs involved.

Huge thanks to Bernard for today getting to me new Devon Area Business Cards and a supply of fresh Buyers Guides, delivered just before we set off for Powderham Historic Vehicle Gathering for the weekend. The biggest show in Devon and the AOs will be working our socks off, welcoming members and non members, talking about the cars, doing valuations and probably not sitting down until Sunday night. The support we get from the Club nationally is priceless.

Angie has been an absolute mainstay in all my years as Devon A - nothing has ever been too much trouble for her. She will be so so missed when she finally retires but we should all be so very grateful for all she has done. Bernard too - the Courier is a brilliant magazine, and he has had so many roles within the Club over the years. He is still doing valuations so we will still have regular contact with him!
What brilliant people we have had at HQ for so many years. They will both be very hard acts to replicate.

South West Classic Car Club is a Facebook only group - join their page and you are a member of the Club. They hold regular well organised and stewarded informal events in Cornwall, Devon and at Chepstow. £2 per car on entry which pays for facilities they hire, additional catering and loos where needed, and they support three local charities per annum. Recommend looking at their Facebook page if you do FB. Have attended a couple of their Devon meets, and there is a huge selection of classics and modern stuff on display.

Martyn - you are thinking of Two Mile Oak Garage on the road Totnes / Newton Abbot. Now sells a variety of 'classics' but wish Stan Walters was still around! We have been Devon Area Organisers for 17 years and he moved out to Spain before we took over. I did hear a rumour that he was intending to come back but not heard any more. His work was legendary and a lot of people down here are still grateful for his expertise.
Good to see your Vitesse getting there and if you are ever in Devon on the third Wednesday of the month from July onwards, do pop into the Star and say Hi. It has changed hands many times since your day, and we are looking forward to going back to the pub which was our 'home' for most of the time we have been in harness.

We will be moving to the Star Inn at Liverton near A38 Drumbridges Roundabout as from our July meeting. Those of you with longish memories will remember we previously spent many happy years at the Star. Big and level surfaced car park is one of the main attractions. Several lit and heated pods in the garden and adequate room for us indoors. We have done this in response to several members' expressing concerns about the parking at our previous home the Claycutters Arms.

We are in the planning stages for the return of our Triumph Tour of Devon.
Save the date - Sunday 4 September 2022.
Why not come down to our beautiful county for a weekend or longer? It will be slightly different to our inaugural event which was held last year. It will not be a competitive run and will be classed as a social gathering.

Programme on BBC News Channel over Christmas featuring Coventry as City of Culture. A few Triumphs in the parade but much more of Lady Godiva and fully dressed modern day Lady G''s on well behaved horses. Little mention of the city's automotive heritage though a brief glimpse of Standard Triumph building.

Join us at the Claycutters Arms, Chudleigh Knighton on Wednesday 20 October for our very informal Club Night. Good and varied food at the pub. Plenty of parking. If you have not been to a meet up before why not make it this month?

Sunday 5 September we are holding a Triumph Round Devon Drive. 3 Starting points - Bowling Green at Torrington, Tesco car park Lee Mill Ivybridge and Exeter Services. Routes are divided into bite sized chunks with approx driving times included. To do the whole route you will need to be an early bird - starting by 8 am. Finish point is at Okehampton's Whitehouse Services after 4.30pm for a big photoshoot. Interested? Email me - sue@jassy.org.uk with your mobile number and I will send you the routes.

In Devon and some other counties ALL petrol, even Super, contains 5% at the present time. I understand it is not just hoses at risk but corrosion of metal fuel tanks and seams. Hopefully the Federation of Historic Vehicles of which TSSC is a member club will be fighting this probably vainly on our behalf.

Brilliant idea. Would add that I feel it is essential to have some sort of hazard warning device. Either wired in or even a beacon to shove on the top of the car in the event of a breakdown. The thought of breaking down on a so called smart motorway with my classics scares the ---- out of me. Particularly after seeing the recent Panorama documentary. No way will I take my Herald on a Motorway as totally original running gear and therefore not speedy enough for long high speed runs. Many of our earlier cars do not have any hazards fitted. Club Shop can supply good easy to mount switches.
