  1. Thanks Colin, I bought a similar pair recently, in good condition and I suppose I can fit them to my Vitesse Mk2 manifold and split the crankcase breather into two and feed each carb from this and blank off the manifold breather pipe.
  2. Thanks Colin that confirmed my suspicions that they were not a pair and not a Vitesse 2L type, looks like Im going to have to search again. Thanks Colin, Pat
  3. I need to replace the twin HS6s SU carbs on my 2L Mk2 Vitesse. Thank you all for spotting the carbs and manifold in my previous post which turned out to be for a Triumph 2000, and not for a Vitesse 2L Mk2, and giving me details of the springs etc.for the 2000. I have now managed to get a Vitesse Mk2 2L manifold and have just put the two Stromberg 150 CDs on it, that I bought last spring. However I'm now confused again because these carbs have 2 different numbers on them as you can see from the photo below, 3116R for the right hand carb and 3166N for the left hand carb. So the first question, is this a correct pair and are these for a Vitesse 2L Mk2? Secondly, looking at the 3rd photo you will see that the throttle cable connector bracket is too far to the left to work the throttle on the LH carb, and more importantly the throttle works in reverse, rotating clockwise to open and is closed at the 12 O'clock position, which makes me think that it is for an accelerator using a solid rod system instead of the cable system as fitted to my car. The carbs also have individual chokes which put a blanking plate up into the mouth. Also does anyone know the correct needle and spring for a 2L Mk2 Vitesse? So all you kind folk any info on this would be much appreciated
  4. Thanks Paul, I've just bought it!! Pat
  5. Thanks Gary, I will see if I can get hold of a copy. Pat
  6. Thanks Paul, they are just what the doctor ordered and an extra thank you for going to so much trouble. I now have a reference that I can work to. Pat
  7. Hi All, I have been looking on the Club website to try and find if there is a Library of reference photos of our cars, with particular reference to under bonnet, interior, exterior and boot layout. I have probably missed it, but in particular I'm looking for an under bonnet photo of a Mk2 2L Vitesse with detailed photos of the inlet manifold and carb throttle and choke cable layouts also the fuel lines. My Vitesse has twin SU HS6s fitted and i want to return it to the correct Stromberg CD150 spec. Although I have a Triumph workshop manual for the car and it does shoe some photos of this the all important one showing the cable layout is missing. Many Thanks Pat
  8. Thanks Clive, have you seen the price that he is asking? Luckily I have got one from the Spitfire Graveyard,. that should be OK.
  9. Hi, does anyone have a spare inlet manifold for a Mk2 Vitesse 2L, with a Banjo bolt that is not seized? Good price paid. Thanks. Pat. PLEASE CANCEL THIS REQUEST, I HAVE JUST GOT ONE FROM THE SPITFIRE GRAVEYARD.

Thanks Gully, thats definitive and great to know, now I can work from there knowing exactly where to start. Pat

Yes Pete except the threads are completely stripped front and rear, so of cosmetic value only. I'll go and chat to a local engineering firm next week to see if they could skim a little off the flange faces to make the flanges parallel front to back and at the same time start calling around the Triumph breakers plus e bay. Thanks Pete Pat

Thanks Johny, its in Leeds and we live in Dorset! I also don't have a Facebook account. Pete suggested that as the 2000 manifold and carbs are good, having a little shaved off the intake flanges to bring the front and rear faces parallel would be a solution so this is my fall back position if i can't find a good manifold with / without carbs and a Banjo bolt that the seller has freed up! Yes Pete, just looking at the manifold, it would not need much taking off, but it seems a shame, when some 2000 owner would probably like a set to recondition this winter. I think that I will put them on e bay again Pete and then look for the correct Vitesse ones. The car is fine on the SUs so I can take my time, and i now know what to look for. Thanks Pete. Pat

    Spot the Carb

Hi Johny, sadly the car came with no history and I was told that it came from Ireland, North or South I'm not sure. I suspect that the head has been ported and possibly a fast road camshaft fitted as theres not much power below 2,000 revs and then it comes in strong all the way up the rev range. The choke adjustment is also a problem and I can't get it adjusted to run nicely when cold on the choke, so i warm it up on the throttle before driving off. It also has an expensive fully adjustable rose jointed throttle linkage to the carbs which must have cost a bit when installed. It does run rich, the needles are correct, but does not like to idle below 850 rpm. Pete and others have said that Twin Stromberg 150 CDs suit the engine better so I would like to try those. if they work better I will put the SUs on e bay. Thanks Johny Pat

Thanks Doug and Pete, so it confirms that the manifold and carbs are for a 2000, or would suit one. Thanks Pat

Yes Pete you are right, on my Vitesse the temperature sender is under the thermostat housing. Pat

Theres a first time for everything Pete, check this out. Unfortunately we completely wrecked the threads in this manifold getting the banjo bolt out.

    Spot the Carb

Yes Pete, this guy luckily removed the Banjo bolt before he sent the Manifold and also included a serviceable 2nd hand bolt. I also notice from this manifold Pete that the top of it where the Vitesse temperature sender would screw in is blanked off with a plug, so i could not fit the sender there. So back onto e bay it goes! Thanks Pete Pat

    Spot the Carb

Yes Pete I will do that, and ask them if they will remove the Banjo bolt before sending!

Thanks Doug, you must have a good little eye! Yes there was a number under the brass tag, it was pretty mucky but it is as follows, 301, 3693L or 3633L Whats that mean then Doug, triumph 2000? Thanks Doug Pat

    Spot the Carb

Thanks Pete, my original manifold has been modified to take the HS6s, so I guess that my best bet is to put these carbs plus manifold back on e bay and look for a Vitesse 2L manifold, unless someone in the club has a spare one for sale. Pat

    Spot the Carb

Thanks Johny, thats useful info, I'm still wondering what car they came from. The manifold does have a Stanpart number on it and There is a small brass tag on the front carb, but I can't see any number on it, but I will have a good look tomorrow, when I go out to the garage again.

    Spot the Carb

Thanks Pete, does this mean that they will be OK and the manifold is also OK? Are the 2 small tubes for connecting to the crankcase breather?

    Spot the Carb

Hi Paul, I will look and let you know but there are no numbers on the front of the carbs, but there are some numbers stamped on the intake flanges.
