  1. Im surprised by this as the one I bought linked below states it shouldn't need sealer and should be fine in standard covers. If I do require sealer whats recommended https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REUSABLE-Triumph-GT6-Vitesse-TR5-TR6-2000-2500-SILICONE-STD-Rocker-Cover-Gasket/222420535772?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Has anyone had experience with there products and would recommend and secondly am i doing this in the right order painting then fitting wheel arches.
  6. Thats good to know It can be done at home as thought it was going to be one of the few things I would be unable to do. Would removing the runners be a bad idea so I am able to spray the tub under them as looks like they are just pop riveted in place?
  7. That's incredibly helpful and more info would be fantastic. And I think the headlining could be saved but im worried the frame could be very far gone as a large amount of big rust pieces have fallen out of it recently.
  8. I have contacted the trimming centre Turns out I have a Britax Weathershield sunroof and for refurbishment they wanted £950 plus VAT which is out of my price range being a student so if anyone has any suggestions of where else to try?
  9. Thanks for all the help so far giving me lots to think about Door gap adjuster would one be easy to make or would i be able to just weld a bar in place?
  10. Straight away had not thought about that stupidly so thanks straight away. couple other things to ask Im assuming floor pans are best to replace while the sills are off and whats the trick for these. I also forgot the mention its looking like the A and most likely B posts need replacing would it be best to tackle these and any bulk head work to start with before doing the sills?
  11. Hi all Discovered the one part of my Mk3 I thought was solid is actually held on with filler a fibreglass. So now I need to replace the sills and the floor pans of the car A few questions 1. Will this be easier to do with the tub removed from the chassis 2. Are there any bits of know how or things to look out for for this job 3. Where is the best/most cost effective place to acquire the required patch panels as being a full time student funds are low but i need to make the most of this free time granted to us Again thanks for all help provided
  12. Hi all Im wondering what do with my webasto fabric sunroof its a bit tired and has a few small holes on it. Are there any firms recommended for refurbishing it closer to the west midlands the better is it something i could tackle my self?

    gt6 Oil leek

Hi all My Mk3 seems to have developed a small oil leak from the rear of the engine where it mates with the gear box cant quite seem to pin point its origin my two guesses are the sump gasket and rocker cover gasket as both seem wet. Bit of info about the engine the car as far as im aware before i purchased the car last year it had been off the road for 20 years but before this had been tuned i believe several times by companies of the time. Now running the car as a rolling restoration iv done very little to the engine apart form an oil change as it sounds so sweet not sure if this is the best thing with its unknown history and this leek that has appeared.
  16. No worries thanks for the help as this is my first resto so the experience is always appreciated
  17. Hi Graham how much would want for these and would you be able to link the thread that you did?
  18. Hi All Went to start the GT6 today and noticed a small puddle at the front of the car turns out it was coming from the underside of the left carb. I cant work out why or where its coming from as doesnt seem to be coming from the gasket at the top of the bowl. my only conclusion is it could be the from the yellow disk at the bottom of the carb (sorry im not sure that this part is called). Any insight into why and where it could be coming from would be amazing
  19. Thanks for all the interest so far everyone really appreciate it being a young member the help is always invaluable. To clarify a few points The bonnet in question is a GT6 MK3 going from green to magenta although I plan to fully strip the paint off to bear metal before painting. Tools I have are a 120 litre compressor if i can repair it And my experience is so far to painting the front cross member of the chassis with buzzweld chassis paint which came out very will (I know not as specialised as the bonnet) I also posses lots of barn space that I believe can be cleaned enough to stop any dust or wind issues. I am still determined to give this job a go as really not keen on sending the car away and as my frist project wanted to try and complete everything my self. I suppose my next question is is it worth me investing in a decent spray gun if so any suggestions on brands? Or could cans from the shop be a viable option if enough are purchased?
  20. to clarify it would be celly paint being used as quite reluctant to send it some where as thats not even possible at the moment
  21. Hi All With all this free time im going to be able to paint my bonnet that im rebuilding. My question is will using aerosol cans will I be able to produce a decent a finish or should I invest in compressor tools?
  22. Hi all Was wondering what people use to try reflect the heat coming from the gear box as the cabin is currently baking even after a short drive
  23. Problem all sorted now overflow pipe is not fitted and temporary gasket fitted as i seemed to be lacking one previously they joys of buy many other peoples project.
  24. Hi all With all this free time figured time to change the diff oil whats the best Technic for this on the MK3 GT6 and what type of oil should be used?
  25. Will go and check all these but from memory it doesnt have the lower pipe in the diagram yet has the one which runs under the fuel tank whats the difference between the two. And should there be a hole in the tub for the one which i seem to be missing?
