  1. Hi All Having a strange problem, took the MK3 GT6 out for one of its first drives the other week and noticed a smell of fuel after going around a sharp corner and noted fuel had leaked back out of the filler cap and down the side of the car. Is there meant to be an over flow pipe if so would any one have a photo of where is should be located and or any ideas on how to solve the problem?
  2. Hi All Looking for some opinions and advice my bumpers on the MK3 are pitted and rusty and being a student I am unable to afford the £1000 of re chroming. So I was considering Painting them black this is on a magenta car has anyone done this and is there any reason not to?
  3. Hi All Im about to start the replacement of my front cross member and bonnet hinge boxes, is there any advice on how to align everything back to how it should be. Thanks in advance guys
  4. Doug , Im honestly unsure the car seems to have been many peoples projects I think it could of been lost along the way but i cant keep having the tank jump about when going over bumps Its sounding like im going to have to try put something together my self haha
  5. Hi all my fuel tank seems to be missing its rear mounting i believe its known as the rod assembly/tank support but I am unable to find anywhere which sells them. Does anyone have a source or any ideas on how to mount the rear of the tank?
  6. Hi all I took my GT6 Mk3 project out for a quick road test for the first time over the weekend as the car has been off the road for 20 years and after about 5 miles i noticed a tapping sound coming from I believe the rocker shaft as it sounded rather high up in the engine bay and I was wondering if anyone knew what could be causing this as it was not present before setting off. My initial thought was it could be the valve clearance could of changed as the car haddent been run at road speeds for so long or could it be something more serious like oil pump problems? As this is my first project im unsure if its anything serious to worry about or not. thanks in advance guys been so helpful so far

    Late GT6 Mk3

HI all iv been using fuel additive in my late GT6 Mk3 registered 74 and have been considering having the valve seats hardened. I just read that these later cars had been adjusted for unleaded fuel for the american market is this also true for the British late Mk3s? If not is it worth having the seats hardened or just leaving it as i know of many people who do not bother with additive or harder seats Thanks in advance guys
  8. hmmmm im leaning towards going for some metrics then seems like the best option as i need new bolts and pins anyway and have new pipes for ether imperial or metric
  9. hmmm so it is possible that someone in the past may have fitted imperial calipers to my car which should have metric as thats what i feel must have happened if so should I revert back to the metric type?
  10. yeah im confused as the mountings are approx 90mm between centres and the old calipers defiantly say 16pb but it is a late production car which i though should be metric. is that pad pins diameter measurements?
  11. KE23834 is a late production car i believe
  12. Hmmmm mine may have possibly been changed as I used a 7/16 when i attempted to bleed the system is there any difference if in which i choose as I am fitting new copper pipes as well
  13. Ok iv found that but how do i tell if it is the metric version or imperial?
  14. Hi all im sure this has been asked before but how do I tell whether i have imperial or metric calipers fitted i have a late Mk3 1974 registered car which I believe has type 16PB fitted Also where is a good supplier for replacement as mine are rusted stuck
  15. Hi all has anyone here of this brand of pollybush and if they are any good or complete rubbish if so what would you recommend price for performance https://floflex.co.uk/product/triumph-gt6-front-bush-set/
  16. Thanks for advice everyone managed to determine it was a dodgy starter solenoid
  17. So my work on the GT6 has continued and for the last 3 weeks iv been rebuilding all brakes and other tasks. I completed these tasks today and went to start the car for the first time in the three weeks to nothing. The ignition lights on the dash come on but nothing the stater motor doesn't even click or try to turn the engine over. so im at a bit of a loss really the battery is all charged and I think the ground cable it tight enough although slightly frayed. The only thing I can think of is I did some grinding paint back in the foot well could this dust be affecting the ignition switch perhaps? Any help with this situation would be really helpful Alex
  18. Thank you all for the great response it’s really appreciated and gives me a lot to think about. Lucky I had clocked the short piece behind the passenger as iv spent the last three days back there trying to replace all the brake lines which are full of holes.
  19. Hi all Iv just purchased a 74 GT6 thats been off the road for the last 20 years and im starting the task of sorting the fuel line does anyone know a source that sells the rubber fuel lines in 1/4 and 5/16 which are SAE J30 R9 which is what i believe is recommended now with ethanol added to fuel. sorry for the lack of knowledge this is my first project while at university so any help would be really appreciated Alex
