  1. This is a small show (60 cars) that I organise in conjunction with the summer fete at a local primary school where I am a Governor.

It is in Sutton (South London/Surrey borders) near the A217 Sutton by-pass, about 8 miles north of the M25, junction 8 and this year it will be on:

    SATURDAY JUNE 25th from 11.00 until 14.30

If you would like to come along please send me a private message and I will email you an entry form.

And as this is a school fete there is plenty for the rest of the family, especially the little ones!

    Hope to see you there!

  2. The 2 tyres I took off were 12 years old, looked absolutely fine with plenty of tread. Only when they were off the rim and I could bend the sidewall that I could see how cracked they were, so if you do have some old tyres on your car, do be careful!

This is a tyre off my Zodiac which I am restoring.

Like Darren's 12 year old tyres they looked fine with plenty of tread when they were on the car. I now realise they must have been 20 years old! :o

  3. Hi

My 13/60 convertible, 1968 model, has an ashtray in the middle top of the Dashboard, there is a flip up lid to it as well. I assume it is standard fitment.

In the owners handbook it is shown on the layout of the dashboard and even listed as item 5.

Mine does too. I thought they all did!

  4. I think the AA have special vehicles to deal with such occurrences, which are very common.

I have been told that the petrol/diesel mixture is sold or given to the army to be used in tanks, which will run on whatever fuel is available. Not sure if this is true but it's a good story.

  5. Due to the inclement weather I have had to drive my Herald 13/60 convertible with the roof up, and cannot help noticing that there is a serious "roaring" sound from the area of the diff which gets louder as speed increases.

My first thought is that the diff is worn and I have had a quote to rebuild it :o, but could it be the UJs on the drive shafts?

  6. You have to remember that FJ are owned by a large multi-national company with greedy shareholders to satisfy.

    PJ isn't.

Exactly. I am a committee member of another car club and we dropped FJ as our preferred insurer when many of our members complained of huge unjustified increases in their premiums and restrictions on use.

  7. point rearwards is main  point across car is reserve.

there is no 'reserve'  its just a curved suction tube that rotates in an olive union and rotation alters the height of the tube end to be lower or higher in the tank

So you might as well leave it in the "reserve" position all the time?
