There are three screws at the front of the coin tray in the gearbox tunnel (if original). They are for the radio support - don't unscrew all at the same time.
I have always wondered what they were for!

The 2 tyres I took off were 12 years old, looked absolutely fine with plenty of tread. Only when they were off the rim and I could bend the sidewall that I could see how cracked they were, so if you do have some old tyres on your car, do be careful!
This is a tyre off my Zodiac which I am restoring.
Like Darren's 12 year old tyres they looked fine with plenty of tread when they were on the car. I now realise they must have been 20 years old!

I had the same problem. Tried everything to clean out the matrix, but eventually found that the pipe that is part of the inlet manifold was blocked.
-
I like it.
So do I.
-
Thanks for the advice, I am going to go for the moulded ones.

Ho and btw, does anyone know if there is dual clip that would both fuel and brake pipe ?
thx a lot
I think Bresco do them.

I want to buy new carpets for my Herald convertible.
It seems that "stitched" or more expensive "moulded" carpets are available.
Can anyone tell me what is the difference and are the moulded carpets worth the extra expense?

Happy Birthday, and thanks for all your help and advice.

And belated Happy Birthday from me.

Hi
My 13/60 convertible, 1968 model, has an ashtray in the middle top of the Dashboard, there is a flip up lid to it as well. I assume it is standard fitment.
In the owners handbook it is shown on the layout of the dashboard and even listed as item 5.
Mine does too. I thought they all did!

Hello and welcome!
Looking forward to seeing photos of the Vitesse rebuild.
Do you only specialise in Triumphs or do you also restore other makes?

I think the AA have special vehicles to deal with such occurrences, which are very common.
I have been told that the petrol/diesel mixture is sold or given to the army to be used in tanks, which will run on whatever fuel is available. Not sure if this is true but it's a good story.

£1,650 Inc parts doesn't seem unreasonable to me but I am used to London labour rates.
If it was my car I would keep it LHD but I suppose it depends on how much you use the car.

Due to the inclement weather I have had to drive my Herald 13/60 convertible with the roof up, and cannot help noticing that there is a serious "roaring" sound from the area of the diff which gets louder as speed increases.
My first thought is that the diff is worn and I have had a quote to rebuild it , but could it be the UJs on the drive shafts?

Excellent pictures of the aircraft!
That Vulcan is a thing to behold isn't it? When it is climbing on full throttle you can feel the ground shake!

I had my distributor rebuilt by the Distributor Doctor.

It's your car, do what you like with it!
But personally I wouldn't choose grey...

You have to remember that FJ are owned by a large multi-national company with greedy shareholders to satisfy.
PJ isn't.
Exactly. I am a committee member of another car club and we dropped FJ as our preferred insurer when many of our members complained of huge unjustified increases in their premiums and restrictions on use.
-
Another reason to change from FJ.
My Peter James policy covers commuting, not that I ever do. I work in Central London and value what is left of my sanity too much to drive there in the rush hour every day!

Got a problem with ignition system I think,
What are the symptoms?
As dougbgt6 says, there will be someone on here who can sort it!

K-Seal is wonderful stuff.

point rearwards is main point across car is reserve.
there is no 'reserve' its just a curved suction tube that rotates in an olive union and rotation alters the height of the tube end to be lower or higher in the tank
So you might as well leave it in the "reserve" position all the time?

Thinking outside the box, as they say - have you had the front wheel balancing checked?
I remember I had a vibration at 45mph in an Anglia that turned out to be a balance weight had come off one of the front wheels.

I made replacement door cards from hardboard using the old ones as patterns. Cost less than a tenner but obviously you can only do this if the vinyl covering is OK to be re-used.
Westbourne School Fete - Classic Car Show - June 25th 2016
in Other Events
Posted
This is a small show (60 cars) that I organise in conjunction with the summer fete at a local primary school where I am a Governor.
It is in Sutton (South London/Surrey borders) near the A217 Sutton by-pass, about 8 miles north of the M25, junction 8 and this year it will be on:
SATURDAY JUNE 25th from 11.00 until 14.30
If you would like to come along please send me a private message and I will email you an entry form.
And as this is a school fete there is plenty for the rest of the family, especially the little ones!
Hope to see you there!
