  1. My old car which is undergoing restoring has about a 3/4" twist on the anti roll bar. I got a second hand one and lo, ... It's the same. I've heard the old ones all have it but new replacements are straight. Does this twist make a great deal of difference if the old ones do have it? I would think it almost impossible to straighten. Any oracles out there? Johno
  2. I must say it's looking like the club shop at the moment.
  3. Does anyone know the best place to buy front springs for a mk3 gt6? But more importantly the difference between updated and stock and even more importantly whether it's a good move or not.
  4. Pete hi, on a street in bath, not used for a few months.
  5. This is a question from a chap I know rather than my industrious self! Who hasn't finished his rebuild. A bit Pearl harbour in my garage at the mo. Anyhow chap I've recently spoken to says his 1300 mk iv losses power and almost dies when going uphill. Any takers?
  6. Evening all, so if making extensions or replacing single wires, how do you know what size they should be and where is the best place to get short pieces at reasonable prices. I'm currently looking at an old wire leaving the heater. Green with white (or yellow). Mk iv Spitfire. Best Regards Johno
  7. I saw a chap drill his hinges with 2 # 2mm holes in all hinge leafs and into A posts and doors before removal then use the back end of a number of drill bits to re-aline. When I get mine right the first time I will be doing this before removing them. A bit late for you now but not perhaps for next time.
  8. G'day So my next question is... Having looked at things like silent coat and dodo Matt for sound insulation it strikes me that a thicker more heat focused product might well be more appropriate for the firewall and perhaps the gearbox tunnel due to the natural route that heat from the engine will take. Please excuse me for reopening something that is often discussed but I'm wondering if something more might be required in the areas mentioned. Gentlemen your thoughts? Oh and does anyone have a decent diagram of where the stock stuff was fitted and outlines? Patterns even!? Don't want much do I...... Don't ask don't get😊 Regards Johno
  9. Thanks all for input. Pete, did you !mention someone the other day for rebuilds? Jonathan
  10. Yep a few from a couple of angles maybe. Cheers for the editing tip😊
  11. Does anyone know of a good source for stromberg spindle reamers? And bushes come to that. Regards Johno
  12. Is there anyone in the Bristol area that could let me take a few pictures of either of the two mentioned cars for reference? Gt6 mainly as I've not had one but am using one's lump. Regards Johno
  13. Mk III , predictive text text will be the death of me!!
  14. I'm looking for some good diagrams for the whole manifold Carnegie linkage arena for a mk III gt6. Can anyone suggest a source please. Regards Johno
  15. The 5" foam heater gasket and four foam pipe gaskets that sit between the heater and the bulkhead on a spiitfire are £15 or thereabouts. Does anyone know the material in order that a small sheet can be bought to make some. Alternative "polite" suggestions welcome. Johno
  16. I seem to remember digging something like button out from the spot in disasembly. It wouldn't have been renovated before. Perhaps it was just in the slot. They might just get schutzed.
  17. I'm thinking the original may have been butyl.
  18. Greetings, So I'm putting a gt6 engine in my old 1300 mkiv. Long story boring... Does anyone know which look or combination should be used? Thanks Johno
  19. Evening all, What's the sealant smothered around the shims of a radius arm after fitting? Anyone? Johno
  20. Cheers that's where I was going if anything. Just the whole grease and brakes thing.
  21. I've heard replacement brake adjusters are made of monkey metal! So I've spent some time (arguably to much) to unseize my own original ones. So without wanting to sound sense were the little piston and the adjuster spigot ever lubricated with anything, or left completely dry. If so what? Regards Johno
