  1. Ok. It's a 1300 engine though, but 1200. I messaged canley classics yesterday but received no reply yet.
  2. I took the rocker cover off. Started the car. Videoed the rocker in operation. Switched car off. Put the cover back on and then attempted to drive the car. After 100 meters the engine produced a loud clattering sounds so I reversed the car back home. I took rocker cover off. Saw the bits lying free.
  3. Ok. I'll have to let my mechanic do what he first suggested. I'll have to buy another car to get me to work.
  4. Wish I hadn't taken the rocker cover off. Good knows what's happened now. How do I get it back together? That rod in my second photo won't go back into the hole.
  5. I was at Luton airport with it in may this year lol
  6. Slowed the videos down so you can see better
  7. I took the rocker cover off. Everything looks fine I think.
  8. And I've got to book 2 weeks off work because I don't have another vehicle to use to get to work
  9. I think £1000 is a bit steep. I suspect the head recondition company are just sending it off elsewhere and adding their bit to the cost. That's why they say they need it for 10 days.
  10. I'll message Alan now. Thanks.
  11. I've been adding lead replacement fluid to every full tank. Should I not have bothered?
  12. I have been losing oil steadily for a year and my mechanic couldn't find the cause but recently said it's leaking from the head gasket.
  13. Thanks. I'll contact canley classics.
  14. The reconditioning service will pressure test, machine the head, fit hard valve seats to enable unleaded to be used, and pressure test again.
  15. My 13/60 started sounding like a 2 stroke mower. My mechanic did compression checks. Zero compression on one cylinder and reduced compression on the other 3. He has recommended a head recondition service he uses and quoted a price of £1000. Does this sound about right? What are my options? My neighbour suggested buying a more modern car and putting that engine in the herald lol
  16. I was thinking the same actually. I've got a mig welder too so could repair the old one I think. But I've bought a couple now from eBay, following the link I got here. Ace! Thaks go to Colin.
  17. The receiving bracket has snapped
  18. The bonnet catches clamp into metal receiving brackets. One of mine has snapped. What do i search for to get a replacement?
  19. And you're all keeping the car alive and rattling. 500000 were made and only a couple of thousand are left in the world.
  20. She has an overdrive gearbox and disc brakes. Covered in rust on the body but I'm sorting that out. I will spray her silver so she looks like the James bond car 😛
  21. I bought a 1962 Triumph herald 1200 recently. On the V5 document it states that it is a convertible. But the car has a solid roof. It also says that it is a 1296 CC but I didn't think they put 1300 engines in 1962 heralds.
