If he was really ingenious there might be a quick way to do it but youre definitely missing some bits and I take it you probably want a proper job done? Did the valve and rocker come off in your hand (honest guv!) or were you investigating?
I took the rocker cover off. Started the car.
Videoed the rocker in operation.
Switched car off.
Put the cover back on and then attempted to drive the car. After 100 meters the engine produced a loud clattering sounds so I reversed the car back home.
I took rocker cover off.
Saw the bits lying free.

Ok. I'll have to let my mechanic do what he first suggested. I'll have to buy another car to get me to work.

local machine shop charged me £350 to convert head to unleaded and lap valves it etc that was 2019 though.
I think £1000 is a bit steep. I suspect the head recondition company are just sending it off elsewhere and adding their bit to the cost. That's why they say they need it for 10 days.

I'll message Alan now. Thanks.

I've been adding lead replacement fluid to every full tank. Should I not have bothered?

I have been losing oil steadily for a year and my mechanic couldn't find the cause but recently said it's leaking from the head gasket.

Thanks. I'll contact canley classics.

The reconditioning service will pressure test, machine the head, fit hard valve seats to enable unleaded to be used, and pressure test again.

My 13/60 started sounding like a 2 stroke mower. My mechanic did compression checks. Zero compression on one cylinder and reduced compression on the other 3. He has recommended a head recondition service he uses and quoted a price of £1000. Does this sound about right? What are my options? My neighbour suggested buying a more modern car and putting that engine in the herald lol

I was thinking the same actually. I've got a mig welder too so could repair the old one I think. But I've bought a couple now from eBay, following the link I got here. Ace! Thaks go to Colin.

And you're all keeping the car alive and rattling.
500000 were made and only a couple of thousand are left in the world.

Ok. It's a 1300 engine though, but 1200. I messaged canley classics yesterday but received no reply yet.
