  1. Talking of bonnets this is mine! Fingers crossed the photo uploaded.
  2. Iain T I’m just thinking out aloud and maybe a silly suggestion, is the radiator cap sealing ring on the thick side? Maybe a slimmer sealing ring provide a mm or two you need ??
  3. Yes so true, I’m thinking of abandoning this idea and simpler to fit another plastic filter with the 5/16” outlets. Save incorporating multiple connections with the glass option.
  4. Hi All, While browsing through the club shop ordering a few bits and pieces, I saw the glass fuel filter and thought that looks smart i’ll have one of those! l’ve since read though the fors and against regarding these filters here! 🤦‍♂️ Discovering the filter outlets are 1/4” dia. and the fuel pump lines are 5/16” dia. Do you guys fit brass type barbed reducers or is it possible to get away with either a 1/4” or 5/16” fuel hose alone? Note to self do a bit more research next time! Thanks in advance.
  5. New Heater valve with new O ring fitted....successfully Thanks again onto the next job 👍
  6. Excellent service Julian, Thank you.
  7. Resurrecting on old thread, I’m renewing my heater valve and have ordered a new sealing ring. My question is, do you fit the sealing ring dry or smear with something like rubber grease to help it seat correctly? Thanks in advance.
  8. Anyone planning on renewing their tan carpets? Having bought a Vitesse without carpets and underlay I am on the hunt for a set. I’m a bit reluctant to buy new at this stage until I get more familiar with the car. I’m guessing this maybe a tall ask, alternatively can anyone recommend a budget set to buy new? Many thanks in advance. Steve Edit:. I have sourced a used set for now, not brilliant but better than nothing.
  9. Just to wrap up this introduction, I’ve finally bought myself a ‘69 mk 2 Vitesse saloon, needs a bit of tlc here and there. Something I hope I can deal with in time. The underneath looks to be very sound indeed and there have been some nice mechanical upgrades made to it too. At last I can finally stop the search for a car! only to be replaced for the search for bits and pieces! A tan coloured carpet set is top of the list for starters 🙂
  10. Visited a classic car show in Rye yesterday hoping to spot any Vitesses, to my surprise stumbled across a superb looking Mk1. Although I’m preferring a mk2 saloon I think I could be tempted with this one. Very well cared for. I should have given them my number.
  11. Hi Josef Thanks for that, I have seen those ads you mentioned. Quite liked the look of the blue one, did manage to view it at a nearby car show several weeks ago but sadly some future bodywork will be needed, and felt it was too overpriced imo.
  12. Hi again Following my introduction back in March ‘22 the temptation of owning a Vitesse has surfaced again, it hadn’t really gone away only finding a nice example locally is proving hard. Ideally mk2, o/d, saloon. May consider an earlier model. I am in Hastings so if anyone is fairly local and is considering selling theirs feel free to get in touch with details. Steve.
  13. Thanks for your welcome and replies. My preference is a mk2 Vitesse with O/D and rather not have a convertible 'but' early days. I have ordered myself a buyers guide and would rather buy a car from a club enthusiast with it's known history, and hoping for an honest seller. Unfortunately i haven't the budget for a concours example but hope to get something as best l can. I have a couple of motorbikes i could sell if l see something interesting.
  14. Hi I have just registered and thought i'd say hello. We moved to Hastings from Staines 12 months ago. I've had several classic cars in the past and now having settled in, l fancy something different. I have the idea of getting a Triumph Vitesse so thought this would be a good place to start and gain some useful knowledge browsing the forum. Thanks for now Steve.
