  1. Thankyou something telling me to leave it alone then if plastic used?? Lots of worried words about copper and rubber online wish I hadn’t googled it. Will double check rubber bits
  2. Hello I have had a search but couldn’t find definitive, am I ok to use screwfixs 8mm copper for fuel line from tank to pump on gt6mk3? Pulling old out to change brake lines and noticed it’s a hardish plastic and all rubber from tank to the hardish plastic which starts around the rear passenger wheel. Would leave it but looks undersized to me. Thankyou
  3. Thanks yes that looks like the standard with two hanging points to secure it level. Be interested to see what the final fastener is, ie a bolt with a bracket or a rubber piece etc. I’m getting fumes through the boot, but less than with the center exhaust now, still can’t work out where they are coming in from. Keen to know if there’s a cure for this for anyone who has suffered similar
  4. Hi Taggart ive just removed a wheelbarrow straight thru on mine for a phoenix semi sport box with mid silencer. I’d say it’s gone from drone boomy (altho nice over 4k) to a more higher pitch less droney sound with a better top end drive. I prefer it but it’s personal of course. The wheelbarrow had two bolts drilled thru the valance horizontally on the inner face under car, with 2 rubber bits that the exhausts hung of. Hope that helps. *to add, it’s quieter now over all than the wheelbarrow setup I had, but that setup didn’t have the mid silencer.
  5. Definitely needs to come over a bit more, when I had it loose it wouldn’t as the middle silencer is holding it just shy of where it should be, think a slightly off front section angle is causing that. The diff mount does hold the box up when it’s all unbolted and the hanger looks ready to fail but I think (hope) it’s stronger than it looks! Will try some more rubber or something else in there
  6. Thanks Johnny yes only one hanger hole on the back box and the diff hanger is on the middle section at the mo. Going to take a look at lowering the tips down with other bracket I think did think it looked too low but if 4.5” is th clearance as std then may be normal. This back box is the phoenix sports one fairly similar in volume to the straight thru wheelbarrow that was on before and standard pipe from manifold. The middle silencer section was a tight fit did bend the chassis rails down a bit to get that in but just angle of b back got me thinking. Thanks!
  7. Cheers Doug sure it isn’t that boring a story! some nice cars there weirdly not seen many other gt6s to compare rears but that makes sense with the 4.5” then. The wheelbarrow was up high in comparison to what I’ve got now. Have bottomed out a few times in dips!
  8. Hello could anyone shed light on back box hanger type for gt6 mk3 please. Have replaced wheelbarrow system from the manifold but my back box looks well quite wonky now. Have tried to wiggle everything to get the final connection at the diff higher but this is as high as I could get it. question would be - does the back box sit quite low normally (what height from ground) and do the tips almost touch the lower panel or should there be more of a gap to let it hang lower and more level?. I’ve just put a bolt and rubber pad through final hanger hole but do have a rectangular piece of rubber with two holes in it and wondered if that should be used to let it hang down a bit lower. All other pics I can find seem to have a more level backbox.
  9. Thankyou. Did see one on fleabay but had mk1/2 on packet listed as mk3 think they are diff? Ordered from Rim Bros in end as a pair. Was a back order from elsewhere but unsure of wait time.
  10. Hello, Im after the RHS drop glass with sundym tint for a gt6 if anyone has one looking for a home. Thank you
  11. Looks a fiddly job to replace door glass
  12. Cheers Pete, will try something similar.
  13. Does anyone have tried and tested tips for removing scratches in door glass please. I know there's many products out there but don't want to waste money and time if possible. Scratches are many vertical ones in both sides door glass I believe from old trim that scratched it as being wound up and down would rather keep glass than just replace if possible.

Enjoying this thread. Bought a gt6 kit from this place not so long ago, yet to start building it. There's spitfires among others on there https://george-turner-models.myshopify.com/collections/triumph
  15. Hi Kevin not sure if it helps but had similar with three top hoses splitting on my mk3. Bought a silicon reinforced length of the same diameter off ebay and cut to length had no leaks there since.
  16. This is a great help thanks for suggestions and advice. Not going to get back with the car til next week but will report back. Not leaking currently. Only went to change the manifold gasket! 😬
  17. Still going through the cooling system among other bits, had the manifold off today but saw this corrosion on the manifold water inlet. Guessing this is fairly common? is there any tip to repair this rather than replace the manifold. It isn't leaking but corroding as per pic
  18. Little metalic spring arm that holds the indicator switch in left or right position on mine were too strong so the raised bit on the column couldn't flick the switch back off as it connected with it. Just slid them out and bent back a bit until it did.
  19. Got column back in successfully and managed to fix the indicator cancel which wasn't working. Cheers for help 👍 This seemed alot more daunting than it was in the end. Still swore alot in the footwell upside down, but much less than anticipated.
  20. Thankyou again for tips, very handy. Have managed to get er out and drilled off the bolts so I have it ready to put new one on. Didn't have the tiny screw and the actual switch fell right off back of the barrel so new unit going in with the barrel and all. I took a couple pics so hoping can get it back to roughly the same, that lower pinch bolt was a squeeze! Fingers crossed. also found a 35amp in line fuse and wire going from the battery to nowhere? All worked OK before, so assuming something related to immobiliser, made it safe for now.
  21. Cheers for help, I have a feeling will be column out as the steering lock is on and theres a immobiliser wired in spaghetti junction it looks like and then drilling off the shear bolts from the sound of it. The barrel or key has had it I think the switch is alright will take care on refitting and the screw if there. Is column removal that a case of undoing the clamp inside the cabin near to the engine bay hole and just the other clamp bolts? Haven't taken one out before. Does dash above column stay in place for this.
  22. Hi im after a bit of guidance on replacing the gt6 mk3 ignition barrel as the key won't go in the barrel anymore no matter what I try. Happened suddenly although has never been easy to get the key in it just don't go now. The barrel is by the knee on gt6 mk3 and the steering lock is currently on. Is it a case of removing the column altogether or is there a simpler way to do this? I have ordered a replacement barrel and lock. Have had a search but can't find much info.
  23. I will keep an eye on that! Pretty certain I've got an airlock as heaters weren't getting hot but engine was. Happened last time I drained the coolant hopefully will rectify itself soon have got plenty in the expansion bottle
  24. Canvas that's it, wondered what it was inside the wall. Picked one up from Anglian Triumph services, very helpful and was in stock.
  25. All the better for it in the sun only Im sure! had to make the most of day off. Nice quiet lanes yesterday was great. I havent tried it in the summer heat yet but Im sure I will melt inside. Its still yellow in various spots under the bonnet too.
