  1. Hello all

With modern brake and clutch fluid (not silicon ) is it still advisable to change the fluid in both the brakes and clutch system. If so is just a matter of opening the bleed nipples one at a time and getting another person to pump the pedal, and does it matter which brake a bleed first

    Thanks in advance

  2. Hello all

I have just purchased two stainless horn mountings for my herald 13/60 from the club shop the query I have is that the right angled bracket part with the two holes that should bolt to the frame under the radiator. The old bracket is welded to the frame under the radiator. My question is am I mounting the horns in the wrong place and if so where is the original place and if not do I saw of the welded mounts and drill two hols in the frame to mount my new brackets.

Or any other suggestion would be welcome

  3. Hi mark

There are only two things stopping an engine firing up

    1 no spark

    2 no fuel

As you say there is a spark so it must be lack of fuel, disconnect the fuel pipe at the carb to see if fuel flows. If not that is your problem if there is fuel the car should start even if it runs rough. The starting point for your carbs jet should be level with the bridge then two full turns full anti clockwise then refer to the carb setting instructions in your manual. Give me a message if this help get you going

  6. Hello all

I have just bought a complete stainless steel exhaust system from the club shop for my Herald 13/60. All went well with the removal of the old pipe and fitting of the new exhaust. My issue is the joint half way down the pipe and at the back box is blowing very slightly. I have made sure that the pipes are fully pushed home to the stops and the clamps are tight. I do not know if to use jointing compound as you never know I might need to dismantle in the future and I am told once jointing compound is used it is very tough to dismantle. Any suggestion would be most welcome

    Thanks

  7. Hello all

This afternoon I have cured the problem. All four Bolts on the coupling between the steering shaft and the rack were loose, it was a fidley job as the bolts are Allen keys not bolt heads, what I do not understand is why all four bolts were loose I can understand one or even two but four, it makes me wonder if they were ever tightened when it was fitted. Thank you all for your guidence and pointing me in the right direction. No dought I will be asking for your help in the near future. But I love this forum for all the help and support

  8. Hello guys

I have done the required check with an assistant to move the wheel from side to side, I I can confirm the play is in the UJ between the column and the rack. The strange thing is it looks a shiny new unit, two questions 1) can I tighten the bolts that hold it together have you ever hear of them working loose and 2) is it an easy job to replace if so what is the best method in your opinion or is a rack out the car job

  9. Hello all you good people I have a question regards the steering on my herald. With the car on the ground I can move my steering wheel approx one inch before any movement at the wheels is this normal, will it fail the MOT and if so is an adjustment I can do or is it a new rack required. What is the best remedy.

    Regards
