Joachim Moeller
Hi all. it's been quite a while... I'm making (slow) progress on my Spitfire Mk3 restoration and on fitting up the front valance I found that the holes for screwing the bracket to the chassis don't line up with the mounting holes. What have I got wrong (or has someone in the past changed the bonnet chassis hinges to a worse position)? Thanks for any help and cheers Joachim IMG_6121.HEIC
Josef
I wouldn’t worry too much about what is ‘right’ at this stage. Modify the bracket if needed to get your valance to sit nicely. I’d be more inclined to guess your brackets and / or valance are slightly inexact copies rather than your chassis having been modified.
Neil Clark
The mounting holes from my Mk3 bonnet hinge bracket position and replacement Mk 1 /2 valance all fitted correctly but the valance with a bit of gentle forcefulness. I had had my Mk1 hinges mounted over the Mk3 hinge bracket and my valance is definitely not a metrically correct pressing in my humble opinion, so as Josef says, just make it fit. Joachim Moeller
Well.. as requested. It will take quite some time of fiddling to get the clearences and gaps right...IMG_6150.HEICIMG_6157.HEIC Cheers Joachim
