Trumpet lengths Spit 1500 twin webers DCOE 40

hi, I'm building a Spit 1500 and I'm running 2 twin DCOE 40's. I know the length of a Trumpet will effect how the engine preforms but I want to know how the length will effect it ? What sort of length would you guys recommend, any one got a similar carb set up ?

Longer the better, but you want (depending on who you ask) 25-40mm clearance space from trumpet end to filter.

On my spitfire, I have chopped the inner wing to provide a couple of inches of extra clearance to get as long an intake length as possible.
