My '63 1200 Herald

Recommended Posts

Newbie from Kent. Bought my Herald 5 weeks ago, covered over 1000 miles of trouble free daily commuting. At 1001 miles the clutch started to slip so the mission began to see whats what.

After removal of passenger seat, carpet and tunnel cover the box came out through the door. This was when I realised this was no ordinary clutch. It had 9 what appeared to be valve springs on the outside of the cover ???.

What is required to convert to "standard" style clutch? flywheel? slave? fork? I purchased clutch online and now have standard clutch.

I also have a set of Revolution wheels to fit, 6j x 13  but no nuts. Do i go longer standard studs or longer metric?

Many thanks in advance Dave.

a quick  look on clutches at  rimmers shows the engine numbers when the 9 coil spring clutch was updated to a diaphragm cover

you will need a GRB207 throwout bearing

see https://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID005175

and you should change the 0.75 dia slave for a 0.875" dia slave

see   eg.   https://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID005177
